NEW CARDS

I have been working on baby cards today.

My work seem to be getting more and more dimensional the more I create. I don't start with sketches - or do all that much planning at all really. I suppose I know my (few!) stamps and what I can mix and match. This is a new idea because I decided to cut round the stamped images instead of cutting then as squares. I matted some of them into squares and matted and cut round the shape of some others.

Really pleased with my day's work

CHRISTMAS

Working like crazy on filling the Christmas shop - just wanted to show you something.
You remember the ATC folder that I made a while back? Well I adjusted the sizes and made a folder for my Cuttlebug embossing folders. Yipee
Yes, I know, but, the old goat is going to America in a few days to visit some friends, and he's going to bring me 'presents'. Bless him, just wish he would hurry up and go away - I want my present!!!

WORK

Worked my little socks off today!!

Got all the albums checked through and back in the shop. Decided to cut fairly large card and patterned paper tags so that I can write a proper description and show the prices clearly - they will be easier to display on the stall now, and you can see it's all hand done so it suits it. We have all got loads of off cuts knocking about, so it's a good way to use up a bit.

And I have started on the Christmas shop, can't believe it's come round again. Got loads scanned in just have to finish all the listings. for them.

In't it cute? Stamped tree on acetate, painted and glittered from behind.

NEW TOYS

Had to get a new camera - I have had nothing but trouble with my Kodak system (as you will know! - Remember the saga of the printer?) Well now the camera is playing up. So I popped into Asda and picked up a real cheapo digital camera to get by with. I thought all these things were going to make things SIMPLER - ha ha.

SCRAP BOOK CHALLENGE

Running late - but this week's scrapbook sketch is on line now. http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/scrapbooksketches_21647.html

I think I am catching up with my work - well the piles on the desk are neater anyway :-)

Did get a batch of piano hinge books finished today though. Still have to stock check all the albums - decided to re-ticket them with cut-out tags so I can put a full description in.

Will start tomorrow!!

opps!

Spent most of yestrersay dozing (I said DOZING - not dozy - he, he). I think it might take a while to adjust to the new meds!

You know I said then I was not going to get into Christmas cards too much???
Do you like this?
Baubles stamped and painted with H2Os, then added gems and glitter. The card background is stamped with a Versamark stamp in a snowflake pattern.
I am going to add a Christmas greeting at the bottom - - But I do like this one!
Need to find some bauble stamps less then £10 though - very much less!

WORK

Had to go to the Doc for a medication review - I love the way they say 'try this - don't know if it will help, but what the heck, just try it'. Inspiring eh? He has doubled my morning meds and offered to double my night time ones - but it would make me groggier. Not much point in that one then, I can feel grotty enough, making me worse in the hope I will get some sleep is a non runner. He is very good, my Doc (so is the consultant at the hossie) I can have a go at just about anything I feel like: just don't expect it to do much really!
I have got most of the shop up-to-date and back on line now, there is only the albums to go through. I have been meaning to have a check up and clear out for ages, so it's good to sort it all out before I start again on the run up to Christmas.
My desk is now covered with piles of cut card ready to make up into piano hinge albums. I am experimenting a bit with sizes this time and I have included a 4" x 6" and a 3" x 6" as well as 6" x 6", A6 and A5. Hope to get them bound tomorrow afternoon - if I can move after yoga tomorrow morning!!!

Having a very restful day today, just dropping in to say a HUGE thank you to all the folk over at Hawes - we had such a wonderful weekend.
Sold loads of cards some albums and a couple of calligraphy pieces, had my best weekend since Christmas, so thank you.
Several people stopped to have a chat and ask questions - and I hope some will join us here - Hi to them.
I am going to have to do a stock-take before the Christmas rounds start, I have been putting it off for ages but now I really need to before I start replenishing all the stuff sold, and coming up with new ideas of course.
It has been a difficult summer and you guys were a huge boost to my morale, it was just great to have so many positive comments and words of encouragement.
Off for my day off now - see you soon

THE OWL & THE PUSSYCAT

Those of you that have followed me for a while will remember my Owl And The Pussy Cat book. I sold it. Well I was thrilled - of course - but a bit sad to see it go. It has gone to a good home though, the lady is going to read it to her reception class. They will LOVE it - shame I can't be a fly on the wall and see their faces.

Better think of another shortish poem to work up.

I have to admit I am totally pooped - going to snuggle up with fidget knickers and watch a film - got to get some energy for tomorrow.

NEW CARDS

Did you get the new 6" squares that are in the 'Do Craft' promotion this time?

I usually get the card stock on offer - I get through it so quickly, I picked up 1 of each of the new packs. SO much choice.

So - if you fold them in half, they make the cutest little note cards. It's an usual size so you have to make the envelopes to fit them - but that's all part of the fun isn't it?
I made loads of my embossing paste and glitter toppers, matted them added gems, liquid pearls, ribbons and lines them - sooo cute.

JUST FOR LAUGHS

I had this email from a friend and I just HAD to share
THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES:-
Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.
Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.
There is no fast food.
Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money. In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week. Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time -- no emailing. Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a hair cut appointment. He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the A & E. He must also make biscuits or cakes for a social function. Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times. The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done. The men must shave their legs, wear make-up daily, adorn himself with jewellery, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed. During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties. They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting. They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 8:00 am.
A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information:
each child's birthday,
height,
weight,
shoe size,
clothes size
doctor's name
Also:- the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labour,
each child's favourite colour,
middle name,
favourite snack,
favourite song,
favourite drink,
favourite toy,
biggest fear
and what they want to be when they grow up.
The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice. If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mum!
After you get done laughing, send this to as many females as you think will get a laugh out of it and as many men as you think can handle it! Just don't send it back to me.... I'm going to bed.

NEW CARDS

I have been making Children's birthday cards. Double click and you will get a bigger image of the card.

I suppose I am in a 'using things up' mood. I love to rummage through my paper stack and create a few cards out of what I have. And these kiddies papers have been hanging about for ages now! (But as I always say - 'It won't go off, and one day I will get round to it).

All the numbers are cut by hand and matted, then decorated, before raising them on the cards with foam pads.

Something that has quickly become indispensable on my desk is a dot (or so) of liquid pearls - highly recommend, so versatile: I love to add a few dots at odd angles. You can use them on the edges of the card / matt /shape - or all (what the heck!), and it really pulls it together.

MONDAY

I think I am (almost) back to normal after the hols - what am I like? - 3 weeks later!

SO - - Mondays are my 'day off' - I do the weekly shoping - then chill out in my summer house. Have you seen my summer house???
Everyone has to get their own dinner and do their own stuff. Princelet goes to cadets at 6.15, and it got to the stage (with the dogs) I was doing 4 or 5 separate dinners - overload or what? OK, dogs, fair enough - everyone else, just forrage!!!!
So now, I get a rest, don't do anything - and don't look at the kitchen until tomorrow.

So we spent the afternoon at The Bird Cage in Kendal, working. Sold a bit - the old goat drew a few portraits - the rain held off, the sun shone (a bit) -

and there you go - you never know how the day is going to turn out!

REST DAY

Having a day off today. Feeling really rough, tired and full of aches. Fibro is back I guess.
Want to see something funny?

There was a manky old bit of stale bread floating in the water that had collected in the wheelie trug. Henry nearly went nuts dunking for it. I just roared - and I don't know how he managed not to fall in.

Home alone today, it's the Westmoreland county show, and ((he's)) gone to work with The Watermill Brewery on their stand. It may sound a bit cruel - but I love it when the old goat goes out to work for a day. He works from home - so he's always here - it's such a nice treat to have to place to myself and get up to mischief!!!

So what did I do?
Made a window hanging with little origami cranes hanging from it. I don't have curtains at my office window, I have all sorts of dangly stuff instead: butterflies, globe, Chinese lantern - and now - cranes.

NEW STENCIL

Picked up a new brass stencil on EBay the other day (EBay's not much cop these days - can't seem to find the 'little' traders, like me, to hook up with).

Anyway, have been tinkering - you know me: I LOVE BRASS STENCILS. It is a tulip - but it is big and chunky and I reckon that I can get away with some pretty outrageous colours (for a tulip).

NEW DISPLAY

Have been making a new display back-board for the stall - wanted a 'wall' to show individual cards in a line. Really pleased with it so far!

The booking forms for the (((Christmas shows))) are starting to arrive.

You are planning to make your Christmas cards - I am starting to work out what I am going to sell!! Scary huh?

2 New retail outlets to talk to this week - I hate this part. Phoning up to ask if they liked the samples I sent, and " hay, will you stock my work?" (please, please, pretty please, pretty please with cream and sugar on) L - O - N - G s.c.a.r.y gap while you wait for the answer. Will let you know as and when.

DESIGN & 'HOW TO' PAGES

I have added a colour list for stickles glitter and liquid pearls to my design & 'how to' pages
http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/design_20928.html

If does not matter who tries to bring out an alternative - these are STILL the best.

Why not check out the H2Os list
http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/design_15523.html

and Marve La Plume too
http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/design_15530.html

Print them off and tick them off as you collect them - that way you never end up with 2 the same!

STAMPING

Have been making magical flower garland cards.

They are quite small - A4 cut in half lengthways, and scored on the tri-fold line, folded into 3 panels (4" x 4"). It is an odd size - so I even make the envelopes for them by hand.

Then you open them out - and . . . .

Fun eh??

SCRAP BOOK CHALLENGE

This weeks challenge is up and running and is a bit different -

If you are anything like me, you scrap pages of your kid/s, pet/s, family, parties - even diy projects - - but not your self. Well, your excuses stop now.

Take your favourite - animal - book - clothes - food - place - possession - pastime - shoes - comfort - hate - weather - toy

Pick any 4 / 6 - and create a page. Draw - photos - cut out from a magazine - what ever you fancy.

And create a ME page - pick 8 / 12 and create a double spread.

GO ON - YOU KNOW YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!!

http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/scrapbooksketches_20873.html

BURN & CRASH

Well my energy burst has finally come to an end! I have been snuggled up with fidget knickers all afternoon watching a film (in font of the fire - yes, I was frozen!). Fidget would like to know why this is not something that happens EVERY day - cos it's his favorite way to spend the afternoon.

Did make a couple of cards first though. These papers were in a magazine I bought to take on holiday - it's always a challenge to work with other people's concepts - and I can never resist taking it on a step, or two, or even three.

Fairies are not really my thing - and I always miss the impact of a greeting plate. But, with a bit of added fluff and glitter - I can see where it is coming from!

Off to snuggle again!!

Wednesday, 3 September 2008

You just know, don't you - the DAY before school starts 'Muumm, I haven't got . . . ' Shoes in this case. I was just sitting down to my lunch and looking forward to a relaxing bath, and before I knew it - pouring rain, the town was PACKED and I was £35 lighter.

My only question is - why don't I ever get £35 quid to spend on my stuff just like that? Oh, well, I guess that gets filed along with 'where does the sock monster go when the washing machine is empty?'

Finished my last batch of cards and made an extra one for my darling curate friend who has a new job. Same folded back front - really like these, just different decorations. She is going to spend half the week at home and half the week in the vicarage for her new job. so it's not really a 'new home' but a 'happy house card'.

Tons of good luck and love Rev Bev!!!!

TIP

TIP for today - don't cut up your finished scribed panels with wet ink on your hands!! Yep - did that one - all my finished 'happy birthday's' have little red - no - pink smudges. Serves me right for trying to rush.

Anyway thought you might like to see the idea I am working on. It is on the lines of my accordion folded fronts, but with a single fold on the front flap.(http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/shopfront/prod_236585-CC216-CALLIGRAPHY-text.html). I have covered the back with a patterned paper (glittered of course), added a line of glitter and a big embellishment to the right hand corner. The stamped and matted plate over hangs the fold and I have put a plain white liner underneath that section to write on. I will add a plate with 'happy birthday' on it when I can manage to do them with out smudges!

SCRAP BOOK PAGES

Have done a couple of scrapbook pages today. After being really hooked on multiple photos, I now seem to be hooked on big single photos.
