life

It is such an amazingly hot day - I am going to wash the living room carpet - banish the 'damp dog' smell for a while!!!!

But in the mean time - - Erica has a couple of freebie digi images up for grabs over on her Odds & Soxlets site.
Plus Shelly has a really pretty circle text

Grab an image and make something for them

Shelly's images

The theme this week on Shelly's images is a tic-tac-toe - and the image is a ring

our sponsor for today's challenge

There will be a $10 SURPRISE GIFT PACKAGE to our Gold Medal winner
in addition to the image they will win from Shelly's Images.

This is my first project with one of Shelly's images - you can get it HERE.  So excited to be part of Shelly's team - there are some really fab images coming up over the next few weeks so keep an eye open for them.
You have to play along with the Tic-tac-toe grid, using the ring image and I chose bling - silver - brads.  You can't really see all the bling and silver - the ring id coloured with a sliver glitter gel pen, matted with shiny silver - and the gems are silver.  The gem is covered in glitter - and the red heart is a brad

Scrap'n Surprise
After having taught in the public and private school systems for years as a Kindergarten teacher, I am now a SAHW in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Living in the desert has proven to be very interesting.  I started scrapbooking when my grandson was born 6 years ago, and have most recently done more card making than layouts. I love getting out my glue, scissors, die cutting machine, embossing tools, and Copics and making a huge mess!  I guess that comes from the years spent with the five year olds!  My husband supports my “habit” completely and is my number one fan. I spend my days at home with my little Yorkie, Lizzy, and seeing my grandson when I can.   I look forward to being on a Design Team and learning and experiencing new friends, new techniques and new styles!

Mary Eason
Scrap My Stash
Hi everyone, my name is Mary. I'm a married SAHM of 2 teens, a boy and a girl. I have lived in colorful Colorado since 1978. I have been crafting from childhood, and have tried everything from sewing to lapidary. I started scrapbooking about 7 years ago and eventually became aware of the wonderful world of card making. Card making led me to the amazing world of blogs, challenges and this incredibly fantastic opportunity to be a part of the DYSU design team. One of my favorite things about DYSU is the wide variety of styles I see in the submissions. It always amazes me that one idea can be interpreted in so many ways. I hope to share my creations with you, inspire you and be inspired by you, and have a lot of fun! I am going to relish seeing your creations for each challenge. As a fairly new blogger, I love seeing visitors and am amazed by how connected our world has gotten in my lifetime with the merging of creativity and technology. My blog is http://scrapmystash.blogspot.com/

Before Mary was invited to the design team, she was already scheduled as our guest designer this week.

Now get inspired by our Design Team!

OK - this is a Thanks giving / Christmas image - but I have other ideas.

I have done way to much 'minimal' stuff - and I am itching to go over the top again - pining for my bright colours and bling

And this is a great way to use up scraps.  I went through my odds box and sorted out all sorts of matching scraps - cut then into rectangles and fan out over your base card - any old how - the more muddled the better

Shows

Back from Grange - cor were we lucky with the weather?  Few big rain spots and a bit blustery - but nothing heavy until we were on the way home and the heavens opened.

Sad really - the end of another season - it's been so great.

Huge thanks to Robert - who organises it all - and huge thank to all my customers - to all those who bought the bits and bobs I was clearing out of my studio - have fun with your new projects.

I have met so many amazing people over the season
- other crafters who share ideas - thank you
- artists who just amaze me and inspire me - thank you
- the people who love and share their own particular techniques - wow guys
- the public who stop to chat and ask the how and why - I love to share so keep asking
- the kind stall holders - like the lady who gave me an old card stand that she didn't use

- just how soppy am I!!

See  you all next year

New project

So I SHOULD be sorting out all the posts and work schedule for next week - what I AM doing is playing with the latest idea from Mel stampz.  She has such wonderful projects - and so detailed.  I so admire people who get their news leter out every week and have amazing photos to follow.  I am hopless - I always forget - I take rubbish photos - I struggle with the technology now - it's a challenge to add a project to my website occasionly

I love this!!! - I didn't have any of the things she used - so I just used what I had

I used Cuttlebug embossing folder 'Swirls' for the background and 'Forest Branches' for the fence - background inked the 'swirls' - and wiped 2 brown ink pads across the top of the 'branches' .  The moon is holographic embossing powder on pearl card - the cat is a shape I drew and cut from velvet paper.  The 'BOO' is a stamped and embossed (with Black sparkle) bunting set I have, the letters are inked with silver metalic ink, on a black fluffy fibre - and the web border is a Martha Stuart punch, with some gems.

There are holes in the 'sky' - you can just about see some at the top - and yes Mel - it is a great effect

Scrapers Delights

Well schools are back - collage is open - universities are starting over the next couple oif weeks - and things are starting to get bavck to 'normal'

Scrapers Delights are holding open the Back To School Challenge for a bit longer so you can get settled to do a project/  And there are frrebies to use so get yourself over there

This frat cap is one of the freebies - and I made a class album.

Lovely and scriffy - painty and layers - loads of texture ahd detail.  I left the mortor board palin - we all know they are plain and boring - but I matted it on bright orange and made a multi-colour tassel to go in it.  The covers are corigated card with bits torn off - loads of torn paper layered - black wire hinge with loads of multi-colour ribbons.  The text is hand done with silver metalic ink - and there are red - orange and black card pages.

It's so cool

This beautiful elephant image came from JLJ.  It is so resplendent in it's dress that I just had to go totally over the top with gold and reds - and of course that all leads to a super-doper good luck card.  The threads are a metallic embroidery thread separated out into it's strands

Stretch N Bubbles

Stretch N Bubles - SHOP
Stretch N Bubbles - BLOGSPOT

OK - I NEVER 'do' Christmas stuff this early - but I have got this phrase stuck in my head and I keep using it (sorry)

This amazing Santa is in the SHOP HERE

- you will notice that he is quite round and dumpy in the original image.

- bring on the magic of digi

- we have quite an ongoing fashion in the UK for long, tall, skinny Santa/angel/snowman that I think looks quite cool so I wanted a long tall image -  I pulled it taller in Word!

- Just how magic is that?  You can't only alter the size of a digi - but you can pull it out thinner or wider to suit what you want to do with it.

This hanger is about the size of a DL card - so it will fit in the same size envelope to post.  I worked out the shape on a scrap of paper folded double so the arch was equal.  The centre is white card inked with green and red - then embossed with the 'snow' folder sideways so that I could leave a blank space for the writing (neat trick) - and the santa is cut out and raised a bit so you get more shaddows.  I coloured his coat - but all the white bits are white sparkly glitter - it looks fab
I think you are stuck with this phrase cos I keep thinking it!

Life

I have been such a good bunny today.  I have been mucking out the living room.  Everything off the shelves and cleaned and polished.  Then I decided to put a bit of paint on the walls to freshen it all up - WE don't have much wall really - pne wall is all Billy bookcases - one wall is all glass french doors - the kitchen door is on the other - so it only needs a small tin of paint to do it all.  The sofa need striping ans washing - and the curtains - and the floor rug needs cleaning.  The floor surface is oak - so that needs washing and waxing.

Remind me - - - why did I start this?

Yenni Natalia

Hi, my name is Yenni Natalia, I live in the Modern country Singapore. I'm originally from Indonesia and moved to the Singapore almost 7 years ago. I have a cutie westie named Garlic who always accompany me when I am crafting. I started with scrapbooking, but because of work I have decided to narrow down my activities by making cards, about 1.5 years ago, and it became a great and addicted hobby for me. I have never stopped buying stamps, papers, colour pencils pens since. I have the pleasure of designing for a few challenge blog and stamp companies but due to busy schedules I decided to step down. But the best thing is I made some wonderful friends along the way.
I want to Thanks to the awesome Do You Stack Up challenge blog  for inviting me to be their Guest Designer this challenge and I hope you all come out and play along with us! Have fun! Hugs, Yenni :) Do hop to my blog if you have time. Here is my blog : http://scrapcollector.blogspot.com/

You know me - I love to colour.  I had this super cool fair image from Miranda to play with.  I made a gatefold card and shaped the sides - then I put the image on the inside as a surprise

Odds and Soxlets

Erica has some fab new soxlets digis for you on her Odds & Soxlets site.  I have this darling Rosalie in the flowers and wanted to do something a bit different.

I left the image plain - just coloured the flowers and a bit of grass and added green half pearls to the flower centres

I folded an A4 sheet of card in half - then I found the middle of the fold - and I used a pair of compasses to draw a circle.

Then cut around your pencil line

That gives you a perfect half circle card

I took it a stage further and extra folds at the side.  I just fiddled about with a sheet of paper until I got something that sat properly on the shelf

Stretch N Bubbles

Stretch N Bubles - SHOP
Stretch N Bubbles - BLOGSPOT

This is a new box design that I am working on.  I wanted an image that would stand out and add a bit of impact.
I used this flower image - coloured with copics and filled the flower centre with tiny silver balls.

Here is my box - I am still tinkering with the template because I want to get it smaller so I can cut it out of an A4 sheet of card instead of a 12"
