I have been doing a bit of decorating in my flat lately - well - not done anything for months.  I think I scared myself.  I get restless every so often as the flat has no outside area at all.  2 steps up off the pavement and you are in the little porch area that I have just painted - and I do miss a garde.  Well - not even a garden really - just a bit of outside space to sit with a little table and hang a bit of washing out.  Anyway - I actually went and looked at another property the other week.  Loved it - serious 'doer - upper' - but what the heck - I can do all that.  But then they said that garden did not come with it - it was owned by the council and you could not do anything to it.  With 2 whacking great conifer trees just about 6' from the end corner - I just laughed at them - noooooo chance!

Anyway - I thought I would fluff my little nest a bit and get round to some more of the bigger jobs that need doing.  It won't be long before it's snowing again and I will be so greatful to be there.

I needed to replace the dimmer switches - they don't dim any more with the new light bulbs - and one of them was broken anyway. It's OK - I do know what I am doing - I don't have the physical strength anymore - but dad taught me all the diy stuff.

So I put in a new light switch - could I resist picking at the wall paper!!!!!  - that's a 'no' then ;-)

I did restrain myself and just over paint it quick though.

pretty flowers

Where does the time go!!!  Huge thanks to all my wonderful customers who have kept me busy and on my toes - much appreciated guys.

The weather has been lovely here - just right for pottering about the town and exploring - even Henry and I have been to the park a couple of times.

There is a new knitting pattern available to download.  There is also a kit in the shop with everything you need to make the slippers - can't post it I am afraid - the postage is just too much these days.

I have put my pretty flowers out at the front - and - guess what? - no weeding!!!

I tried out some spray glitter on them - now the whole kitchen smell of glitter spray.  Don't you just love being a crafter?

NEW KIT

Finally - I have finished the heart hanger kit.

Designing the project is the easy bit.

Then you ahve to get the contents sorted out - that's quite fun

Then I have to write up all the lesson plan - and set out the photos - and that's the bit that takes me forever.
This one is ready - and there is a distress notebook and a sewn notebook cover on the way.

new books

I don't know about you - but I am back in long sleeves and a jumper today!

I am having a general tidy up week.  Getting all those little piles that 'I am going to get around to' finished - get my desks and tables cleared - you never know - I may get my dining table back.

So this is a little pile of books that I had started and just needed finishing off.

I love making books.  These are made from board covers cut to 4" square so that a 6" paper covers it perfectly.  It pays to use every part of your paper stack - the 2 on the left are actually covered with the front covers of the 12" Bon Voyage and Steampunk look pads from January.  And I got to have a good old root around in the ribbons scraps and use  lot of them up.

Finished bathroom!!

I have finished my bathroom - all sparkly and clean.  Huge thanks to the guy in Kendal Discount Carpets who let me have some off cuts of underlay from another job for £5 to use.  Just perfect - thank you.

I have repainted the little unit that goes under the sink - and it looks so much better now.  It matches all the other paint work and does not stand out like a sore thumb quite so much now. 

 I even tarted up the door knob (cheaper than buying a new one ;-) ) - not sure if I am going to let anyone use it though.

New work

Had a fantastic day crafting with Ester on Monday and we made so really pretty projects

We did a canvas hanger - love these colours - the pearls match perfectly

 And I added a twine bow and a pin

Then we made this fab box - we added candles - but you could add just about anyting.

I have the pattern for the long box with a card on the side - but I have not seen this box pattern before - it will be super at Christmas time - and it may even appear as one of my make-it-yourself blanks when I get some spare time.

We finished up with a lovely little note book - 

We have Ester's blessing for this to appear as a complete kit in some form or other.  - Won't be exactly the same - but I will come up with a way for you to use your own stamps along with my pre-pared bits and bobs to create  your own project.

new project

I am doing something for myself for a bit of a change!

I Love the Tando stuff (had you noticed ;-) ) - and as it is summer at last - I am going to do the House Shape Tray as a Beach Hut theme altered art piece.

This is the House blank

I created an 'ideas' sheet with all sorts of images and quotes - and collected my colours

The first thing I did was to change my mind about the colour ;-).  I was going to paint the frame blue - but ended up going with red (it will change in the end!).  The blank comes in sections and you have to glue it together if you want a tray - how cool would it look as separate panels - oooooh - that will follow

I decided to use paper for the background for a change - I have used the Ahoy There! 12"

Now I am going to be really good and leave it all overnight so that it is really dry before I decide what to do next.

New Shop

We were all very upset in the ally when the Tea Rooms opposite me closed down.  It's a great big shop - and would make a great black space: things are really going down when the tea rooms closes.

Anyway - new people have taken it this week - so pleased.  They are having a good old muck out and re-branding as 'The New Shambles Tea Room' - and re-opening next week.

We are really lucky in the town - shops are still opening (2 more coming as well) - so, although we do have a few empty units - we still have a good bit of life about the place. Love

Life

It's all very well this lovely sunny weather - but it does get me involved in things I really should not be doing!!!

I have wanted to get the carpet up in the bathroom for ages - the edges were all mucky and the paintwork needed doing.  So, up it all comes - then I found that there must have been a leak at sometime - and the underlay was all stained and rotten.  It was all bone dry thank goodness - so there was not a big problem - just all the muck.  So that all had to come out.  The bath panel had been loose for ages so I thought I would have that out and sorted while I was there.

I have sanded and painted the little bit of skirting both sides of the door - I have some expanding filler to fill the gaps in the floor under the bath - hopefully it will make the room a bit less cold.

So here we are

Another coat of paint - then I can put the bath panel back properly - and I have to find somewhere to get just a tiny bit of underlay - carpet to clean and put back (it's in the middle of the living room floor at the moment) and we are all done: fresh and clean again.

Now - about that kitchen window!

Shop news

I am having great fun today - I have taken off all of the stuff on the 'slat wall' and I have had a god old move about.

I fancied a bit more colour for the summer - so I have put all the paper stacks there together so people can see them all.  Then I have put loads of embellishments in with them.  There is a lovely group of the Beatrix Potter range in the middle - and all the tools are at the bottom.

I am very pleased with the new look

I bet I won't be able to find anything for a fortnight! Love
