UK ART RAFFLE

The UK has been about for several years - and had a couple of 'curaters'.  In it's hayday there were 30 - 40 people entering every month, but this year it has dropped to single fingures.

Jean has decided to close it - so I have agreed to take it over from her.  My thinking being - I can cope with just a few entries  to start with and build it back up to it's glory days.

The thing that makes the UK Art Raffle so different is that it welcomes all types of art and craft media - if you can post it to me - you are in.

The idea os that there is a theme for the month - you send me your project, put a link on my blog with linky - at the end of the month linky choses a winner and they get ALL the projects sent in.

Sound good?

I am setting up a new blog for it and waiting for everyones emails from Jean - hope to be set up behind the scenes this week so we can catch October with the first projects.

More to follow

SHOWS

It was just the most amazing sunny day on the promenade at Grange-over-Sands to day.  Glorious sunshine - loads of stalls - people - dogs - such fun.  Did loads of nattering - sore throat now! - sold a few bits - met a couple of local crafters - got some interest for Christmas.

Great fun - thanks all

Have got the forms to sign up for the whole of next year - yeah - can't wait.

I have got next month free of shows - then the Christmas rounds start.  Going to have a proper rest and work on my ferrets - AND Lisa Victoria has some new dragons out.  Sporty boys ones.

Gosh I am lucky

Thursday

Sorry - can't believe I haven't posted here for so long - I could swear I had - wonder who's blog I put them on?

Just wanted to show you the differnt look you can get from changing the sige of you digi images.

This is a sandcastle image from SNB

One is an A5 card with the image taking up most of the front - the other is a DL with a much smaller image.

Both are coloured with Copics - and the papers are similar - but you can see just how flexable digis can be

NEW CARD

Sometimes I worry about my thought process!

One of the SNB images I got to work with this month is a really cute fruit slice

Did I think 'ooooh love stuff' ? - naugh - not me - 'oooooh COCKTAIL'S'

So I came up with a winter get well card.  The lemon 'slice' are copic coloured. have a tenny tiny gem in the centre and a swish of glitter on the segments
oh - oh - oh - I could do a Winter one with 'Mulled Wine' and colour them orange

CROCHET

This is it - this years Christmas gift range - CROCHET

These are broaches.  Crochet in 100% pure cotton - which is dream to work with and bit of felt on the back for support - with a broach pink sewn on.

I also have bookmarks - which are great fun.

All (slowly) being added to the web site under GIFTS

The bookings for the Christmas fairs are starting to come in - and the last show of the summer season is this weekend.  Princelet is 16 next week - and Granny Jill's birthday 2 days later.  Gosh another year almost put to bed - eeek

LIFE

Had to take fidget to the eye docs this morning - hour drive there - half hour to see vet - hour drive home - £84 lighter

That was fun - - - because - - - ?

Better news though, fidget's eye is responding really well and after another injection and eye drops until at least Christmas - we might get away with no big problems.

Bless his little socks - he is so good - he has to have one eye drop morning and night and he just dips his head (oooh must I mum???) and braves it - then goes nuts (I am so clever - I am so clever - I am so clever) - big hugs and kisses all round.

Then, this afternoon, we had to puppy sit for the little girlie next door.  She is such a Sweetie pie - 4 months old Choc lab, and into everything.  The palace guard dog is beside himself with joy to have a baby to nurse - and poor old fidget can't work out what this odd 4 legged thing is all about.

They all piled onto my lap for an afternoon nap - hay - so no work - playing with doggies !!!

Love this - so cute
used it as a baby Christmas card - can personalise it for your baby's 1st Christmas

And this

Stretch N Bubbles

I have been 'fiddling with my digis' again!

Today I am using Dee the Dino from the Stretch n Bubbles shop

You know we always re-size digis to suit the mood?  - So how about making them teenie-weenie, weenie and adding LOADS of them to a patterned backing paper

This is printed on a pink background white spotted paper with all sorts of pinks/purples/browns/reds/blacks so it it is quite subtle

And the Final card??

Hay - would I let you down??

LIFE

I have worn out a parallell pen - how about that?  The nib is totally knackered - it fans out at the tip and splodges the ink everywhere.  I have been using it for about 6 years I guess, and it has been getting very scratchy for ages.  I baught a new one for 'best' last year, but it is really usegul to have 1 with my sepia ink which I use the mose - and 1 for coloured work

The other decissions of the day is - I have given up reying to draw my ferret image to use as the basis of the every day range and baught a stamp.  I don'y know why I can't crack it  - I have drawn a super Bearded Collie and a Spanial this morning - but I just can'r get the ferret shape right.  They either have hampster cheeks - or if I try for a more angular look - nasty, sour, pointed faces.

So - here's my beardie

DAY OFF

NEW CARD

New look for my new stamp

Stamped with coloured inks (one for each season) and embossed with holographic powder.  Trimmed very close and matted with pearl green card.  The sections are raised over a scrapbook stripe pattern that echoes the ink colours and the whole thing is set on a handmade paper that has 'velvet' bits as the spots.

See how different it can look?

Ah well - back to the ferrets next week.  Got the Christmas card as I want it - and several larger images - but still not cracked the look I want for the small everyday range like the dogs one

NEW CARD

I actually got some time for myself at the bench today to try out some of the bits and bobs I picked up.

I saw this stamp and fell for it - I just love trees

I was tinkering away - and I had a brainwave

Embossed with black sparkle and matted with a tiny bit o silver mirri
Halloween is my favourite season for patterns - I love all the images and papers much more than Christmas

CHALLENGES

Today I am entering the Cuttlebug birthday challenge with a fantastic elephant from Stretch N Bubbles
The challenge is a birthday card with at least 2 layers using the cuttlebug

The pink under the elephant is embossed and the green marble strip is embossed from each end to make the longer strip.

Coloured with Copics - no shading just an assoetment of bright colours like they paint the elephants for the parades

NEW CARD

Monday is normally my day off - but I tell you after the past few days I just had to colour.

My passion for dragons is well known - so this little chap won't be a surprise.  It may be a surprise that it's a Stretch N Bubbles image though - in the shop

I need to think of a 'time' quotation to put on it.

He is really super - and simple for me - just the image coloured, cut out and put over a scrapbook paper

LIFE

Life is gettin' in the way again this week folks

- You are going to have forgive the absence over the week-end - I really have to re-decorate mum's old flat for the new tenants.  I have been putting it off for ages, but I have to get a grip before winter creeps up on us.  - The Argos Ch*****as catalogue is out - the kids are back to school next week - how many clues do you need???  Flat Panic Kitten

So - that is what I am (VERY reluctantly) up to this couple of days

Got loads of ideas for the new Stretch N Bubbles images I was sent for this month - so just you wait!!

NEW CARD

Just a quickie - stuff to do

- on a mission to make you fiddle with your digis!!!

Try this - - with Suzie - NEW - this month from Stretch N Bubbles - here

Make 2 identical printouts.

TIP - in the program you use to import your digis - make the paper size ACTUALLY the size of the card you are making - than you have an idea of the space it will take up

Leave one image totally un-coloured and cut it in the shape you want for your card - mat with black.

Use a stencil to pick out a pretty part of one of the images - draw a pencil line - colour just the shape - cut out and mat with black

Set your coloured and cut out section EXACTLY over the same place on the plain image

Make up into a card

yum - yum
