Hang it all!!!

My favouite shopping basket broke it's handles - they just wore out!

I was so upset!

So make some more - said the goat!

DOH - why didn't I think that!!!!!

So I made these - the same way I make the dog leads - but I put a strip of herringbone tape in the middle - love it!

Thinking - patchwork dog leads now???

What's on your work desk Wednesday - Vintage Pin Cushions

I love making these -

I am going to make a few for the shop for Christmas.  If I could find a safe way to post them I would add them online - but I worry about the vintage china so you will have to come and see me to get one!

Saturday Art Day

Well it's been a pretty horrid week one way or another here in kitten's castle - so I decided that I was going to spend all day playing - in between serving all my lovely customers of course!!!

It has be fairly busy - and an old friend dropped in for a natter - but I have had a lovely time creating the background for an 'element's' piece.  Based around earth - air - fire - water and the seasons.  There is loads of writing to go over the top yet - but the colours are fun already.

and the start of all my doodles

Square of the month - Ladder Stitch

This month's square is a great fun texture stitch - it may sound a bit odd - but just follow the pattern through - it's soooo cool!!!  This stich is part of the 'Fisherman's Rib' group - so it uses the 'stitch one below' technique - dead easy - makes a soft textured shape.

You will need;
1 strand of double knitting to be worked on 4mm knitting needles – about 12g
Or 2 strands of double knitting (equal to chunky weight yarn) to be worked on 6mm knitting needles – about 20g

·         If you are using the double knitting weight of yarn, then use 2 strands together throughout.
·         If you are using the chunky weight of yarn, then use 1 strand throughout.
·         Remember to count all the rows as you work up the square.

1 Technique is used in this pattern – knit 1 below.  Put the point of the needle into the loop of the stitch below the next one – knit into it – drop both loops.

Cast on 29 stitches.
Row 1: *(knit 1, purl 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
Row 2: *(purl 1, knit 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.
Row 3: *(knit 1, purl 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
Row 4: *(purl 1, knit 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.
Row 5: knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, *k1, purl 3, repeat from * to last 5 stitches, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1.
Row 6: purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit to last 3 stitches, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1.
Row 7: knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, *knit 1 into the loop below, purl 3– repeat from * to last 4 stitches, knit 1 into the loop below, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1.
Row 8: purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit to last 3 stitches, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1.
Row 9: knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, *knit 1 into the loop below, bring the yarn to the front of the work, slip 3 purl wise, take the yarn to the back of the work, knit 1 into the loop below – repeat from * to last 4 stitches, knit 1 into the loop below, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. (Do not pull the yarn loops at the front of the work too tight – aim for the work to sit flat with the loop running round the stitches).
Row 10: purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit to last 3 stitches, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1.
Rows 7: - 8: - 9: - 10: form the pattern.  Repeat just these rows until you have completed row 28:
Row 29: *(knit 1, purl 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
Row 30: *(purl 1, knit 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.
Row 31: *(knit 1, purl 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
Row 32: *(purl 1, knit 1) – repeat from * to last stitch, purl 1.
Cast off.
I use Robin double knitting 100% acrylic yarn for all my knitting work.  If you are using pure wool, or a wool mix you will need more as the yarn is heavier.
Disclaimer: This is my own original work.  Use it for your own use or for charity selling.  Use it to inspire you, and to lead you on to other projects.  But, please do not resell the pattern as your own workings.  It takes me years of learning, and months of work to produce a final pattern.

Saturday Art Day

End of the week again.  I have to admit that I get really tired by the end of the week now.  I wanted to do something that did not involve a lot of concentration so I thought I would do a bit along with Rebekah Jones - it's ages since I did any art journaling in my Bible, and she has a lovely, sothing voice to work along side.

I did 2 very simple pages - but I still learnt something new.

This one is an embossing folder directly into the book - because Bible pages are so fine you just use the pressure of your fingers to emboss - you can actually hear and feel the paper shaping.

I used the end pf my dusting brush to save my little fingers.  I expect the paper will gradually flatten again in the book - but the ink shading will stay put.

The second is Gelatos blended with a baby wipe - and a stencil

Very simple - but at least I have done something.

What's on your Work Desk Wednesday

Computer listing!!!

But it is yummie - yummie colours

I have just bought a new little net book so I can stand at my high table in the shop and work on the website - it's made so much difference.  I was never happy sitting out the back and the website did not get enough proper work done on it - now I can stand in the shop all day and get the listings done as they should be.

You never know - I may even be able to keep the stock up to date ;-)

Listing Fimo today - Snazaroo tomorrow - and the new glass paint range after that

Check the site out - it's looking really pretty at the moment

Kit of the month

This month's kit is ready - sewing kit for you.  You could use the machine or sew by hand - which ever you prefer.

I thought it would be a great idea for a Christmas gift bag!  Once you have mastered the pattern I have loads of fabric quarters you could use to make more - both Christmas patterns as well as every day - and some super boys ones.

In the shop now - or online HERE
