More sewing for you.  I bought 4 sample pieces for £1 each.  Completly unpicked all the lining and headers - then I stitched the panels together and re-lined them.  Put back some of the header tape and got the old goat to put a pole over the dor way between the kitchen and porch in my flat.

Fantastic draught excluder for £4 neat!

Do You Stack Up? #49 - Something Old

So glad you could join us once again for a new challenge at Do You Stack Up?! This week we want to see Something Old! It could truly be something old, or just a vintage style or image.

This week's Sponsors:

Saturated Canary Digis
Winner’s Choice of 2 Digis

Gecko Galz
Prize Package: Pack of paper of the winners choice, 4 collage sets of the winners choice, a stamp set of the winners choice, and vintage pearl button pack, vintage lace, and Gecko Galz fibers
I have the images from Gecko Galz.  Every month they produce a theamed disk with 50 digi images for $20 - yuo do the math - what a bargain.  AND the image are super quility too.

I chose the Oriental selection - and you will see them pop up from time to time in the future as I play with them.

My 'old' is the backing paper - I have had it for years but never had anything suitable to use with it - and I thought that the image running through the mountains was really good for a travel card

Shelly - Christmas

My True Love Gave to me......

Two new Cookie Sheets so I can make a Million Christmas Cookies....... =)

Well, actually it was my mom that gave me the two new cookie sheets!

If your family is anything like our family - Christmas is the time that the Baking Sheets and Chocolate melting pots come out and there are sweets galore being made in our house!

Every year, 2 weeks before Christmas I host a Cookie Exchange Brunch with family and friends and we swap swap swap Christmas Cookies and; happily we go on our way.
So today, I'd LOVE to share with you one of my favorite cookie recipes and in turn, since we can't all swap cookies, I'd love for us to be able to swap cookie RECIPES! =)

Here goes - this is one of my favorites - simple and YUMMY!

Spritzer Christmas Cookies
  • 2 cups butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions - In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

Get out your handy dandy cookie press - fitted with the disk of your choice, press dough 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325* for 11/12 minutes or until set (do not brown). Remove to wire racks. Yield: 11-12 dozen.

I usually split up the batches and flavor them differently - For the Stars I switch out the Vanilla Extract and use Lemon. For the Christmas Trees, I replace the Vanilla with Peppermint and a few drops of green food coloring. Red Food Coloring for the Candy Canes. You can mix and match till your little heart is content.

I love the simplicity and flexibility of these yummy cookies!

So, share with us your favorite holiday home made treat recipe in the comments.

I could use a few NEW recipes for this years cookie exchange - maybe even one of yours! =)

At least one random comment that includes a recipe will be chosen to receive 3 images of their choice from the Shelly's Images store. Enter up to 3 recipes.

Odds and Soxlets - Dressing up

Those 2 little monkeys Roly and Poly are up to mischief in the dressing up box - don't you just love 'em?

Get the digi HERE from the Odds and Soxlets shop

I don't often put the image at the bottom of the page - it can be really hard to balance the overall design.  But, today I wanted to keep the 'bauble' design of the paper on show, and by keeping the piece big and chunky it balances overall.  Rudolph has a lovely big red gem for his nose - he is so sweet.

Stretch N Bubbles - Felt charm

Stretch N Bubbles - SHOP
Stretch N Bubbles - BLOGSPOT

Messing about again!!

Lovely gingerbread man - as an ornament!

Very simple - make the image the size you want and cut round the shape - use it as a pattern to cut out 2 pieces of brown felt.

The wavy line is a ric-rac braid - the eyes are brads - the cheeks and mouth are stitched - and the buttones are - well - buttons!

Do all the decorating on one of your felt pieces and stitch the other on the back to cover up all your workings

I stitched the 2 pieces together with a gold thread using blanket stitch - done the bottom half - just the top to do.

Shelly's 12 days of Christmas

On the 4th Day of Christmas

Today we are showing you how to make a cute container for the Letters to Santa that the children write each year. What a great way to keep and preserve these fun letters. And imagine how fun it will be to open these 5 or 10 years from now.

If you have trouble viewing this video you can go directly to the You Tube link below.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpLnQupa3qU
We have a number of files that go with this tutorial to give to you.
The first file is the template used to cut out the pieces for the top and bottom of your container. Just insert the image into a Word document as you would any other digi stamp that you use. It should insert at the correct size for printing. Print it on the wrong side of your patterned paper and cut out. Be sure to print and cut two.
The second file is the file used for the letters to put in the container. Follow the link to get the Word document for printing. I forgot to mention it in the video, but these will print on a 5 3/4 x 9 inch piece of paper.
lettertosanta.docx

We are also giving you the tag we used on our project.

And lastly we are offering the Flourish .svg file used to cut the flourishes used on our project. This file actually contains two versions of flourishes. It can be used with Make the Cut software or any other software that allows you to import .svg files for cutting. (We would love to hear how many of our Shelly's Images friends are using .svg files. Please leave us a little note if you would be interested in more .svg files in the future.)shellysimages.com-2flourish

Sunday Shop news

I am expanding the crafting supplies that I keep in the shop.

I have been accepted by Woodware (a huge wholesaler of really quality craft supplies) to be a stockist.  Everything I list is actually in my office sitting waiting to go to it's new home (I do NOT dropship). I will be stocking the more practical tools and ink products - ink pens - bit of card and paper - double sided tape and 'essenessial' type stuff.  Every week I will highlight an item that is newly arrived.  I buy in bulk and will be splitting the packs down so that you will be able to buy 1 book ring - 1 sponge - 1 spray mist - 2 sheets of coloured card etc - all at terrific prices.  I don't pay VAT (don't earn enough!!!!) so I don't have to add the 20% that the government takes, making my prices really competitive - and unlike big warehouse stockists - you will only get the stuff I have and do use, so you know it's useful!

For my first product promotion -

I have just had a delivery of the most SERIOUSLY cute little tool / storage tote bags.  They are called brush buckets - but you could use them for anything really - tools - make-up - fill with bath samples as a gift (that would be fun).

You have to see this
Seriously - these little bags are super quality.  Made from a heavy duty canvas (several colours available) - the seams are bound for extra strength - good firm handles - and lined with plastic so they are waterproof

and the best bit - - £1.50 each

I picked up 10 from the wholesalers - but I can get more if they sell out

Something different - patchwork

This is a bit different.  I have discovered fat quarters and have been quietly doing a bit of patchwork.  I took my sewing machine to my little flat - there is space there and I can have it on the table and actually use it.  Funny how I the first thing I do when I have a bit of spaca and order is go back to sewing.

This is my first attempt at patchwork with shapes like this - it's quite a big centre piece for my dining table.  I can even have a table cloth at the flat - and mats - and eat dinner properly!!!!

I am so chuffed with it - I got the pattern free from Passion 4 Quiliting - they have loads of insperation

Shelly's 2nd day of Christmas

On the 2nd Day of Christmas

Shelly's Images gave to me........a wonderful "Snow Sign" freebie.
You may have seen this image on a few of the DT projects. Darlene was also kind enough to make a special project to inspire you a little more.
Darlene's project shows a cute sentiment added to the image. There are so many possibilities. And don't forget that this image fits perfectly with our "There's no business like SNOW business" challenge this week.
Oops....I was supposed to offer that cute sentiment too. Thanks for reminding me Darlene. Thank goodness we were Skyping this morning. :)
Please remember....
  • Sharing freebies is not allowed.
  • Leave us a comment if you dropped in to get our freebie today. We love hearing from you.
  • The freebie will be available from now through Sunday.

Shelly's images - 1st Day of Christmas - Snow business

Shelly's Blog - HERE
Shelly's Images shop - HERE

On the 1st Day of Christmas.....

Shelly and the DT gave us a 2 week challenge!

That's right....since we have so much fun planned for the next 12 days here at the blog we thought that we would do a 2 week challenge. So you have from today through December 14th to enter as many times as you like. We will choose our normal Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners, but we will also choose one random winner for every 25 entries. So enter often and send all of your friends in to enter too.
What is the challenge you might ask? Our two week challenge is called "There's no business like SNOW business". Enter any project that has something to do with snow. Once you have entered a "snow" project feel free to enter as many additional "anything goes" projects as you like. But to be eligible for the awards you must have at least one snow project entered.
The Design Team and I have made projects using our "Snow Lady" set. This is a fantastic set with lots of extra pieces for paper piecing and designing as well as a wonderful sentiment. Don't forget that you can get this image at a special sale price today.

Here we have Snow lady set

Such a sweet image - I made a little note book.

It is only small - so it fits into your bag
 - the hinge is ribbon - so that the cover folds right round to the back and gives you a firm surface to write on
- the pages are held in with a ribbon tied at the back - so  you can add more pages

I always seem to end up colouring snow stuff in some blue or other - I am going to ban blow from my office next Christmas!

Do join us with this weeks challenge on the BLOG

I love the way we can use any colour for Christmas these days.  This stocking image is perfect to play about and experiment with different colour combos

I went for a modern look - and experimented with the new colour shading technique.  There are 3 chipboard tags on a silver ribbon and the greeting is part of the patterned paper underneath

scraper's Delight

OK - you all know I am a sucker for dragons.
I am in love!!
Scrapper's Delights are mostly a digi scrapbooking site - but I have sneaked in with the plain digi images she does.  I love the Gothic look - but still clean and clear and sooooo colour-able!!
And I love the dragons.

This is not Copic work - shock - horror - actually it's Inktense.  Gives a lovely soft tonal look - I wanted him to look soft and cuddly
This little chappie is not even in the SHOP yet - but the Santas and friends are.
Working on a Santa - just you wait!!
