Day off

Cor, it sure knows how to rain in The Lake District!!!

I think it's the tail end of the huraccane that hit Ameria a while back.  The Kent river in Kendal is stunning - I love it when it gets all full and choppy - just looking at it makes you feel sea sick.

Not really having a day off today - got the docs and pottering about at home to finish the big clear out and be about when son gets home from his first day at 6th form.  Well , you have to encourage them don't you.

Something new

I really like the A Day For Daisies images.  They have a style that is very, very different to anything else about.  It took me a while to see the potential of the them = they are so light and delicate I have to rethink how I use them.

This is a free image to use for their current challenge - get it HERE

The theme is 'a dash of red' - and I may have stretched it too far - but the ink I used IS red - and this paper is so pretty I could not resist.

So - if you don't think is meets the challenge - that's fine.  Just wanted to share it - I am really pleased  with the look

I had a stamp from Love To Stamp to play with - and I went nuts.  We are all focused on 'school' stuff at the moment.  Weather we have just finished (like us) or just starting - or off to uni - we all have memories.  So I made a sceapbook to suit the image.  You cant see it - but I used corigated card,  This is so much fun to use - it takes paint like magic, and I spliged and sponged all the autumn tone coloirs with a bit of bronze all over.  Torn papers - buttons - ribbons - peel offs - diecuts - wire - and ribbons - ribbons - ribbons - all add up to one fab skool album!!!

New idea

I got this odd little frame shape in a pack of something or other

Soooo - - what do you do with a funny little thing like that??

Well - you put double sided tape on the front - chose a small patterned paper - and cover it - that's what you do!

Quick tip for making a neat square opening - don't cut round the square - cut the diagonal and fold each side back - much neater

I stamped a greeting to fit the aperture and added a few decorations - put a magnet on the back

- et one fab fridge accessory

Stretch N Bubbles

Stretch N Bubbles - SHOP
Stretch N Bubbles - BLOGSPOT

We don't have Thanksgiving in the UK - but we do have Harvest Festival and Harvest Suppers - and I did think that this would also make a fab Christmas 'Thank You' card with a snowflake background or something like that

This darling turkey is in the SHOP HERE - and you can colour it bright or more earthy as I have

I have cut out the top square and layered it to give it a bit of depth.  The background is embossed with the Cuttlebug pumpkin folder and inked with browns and a hint of green and orange.  I am really pleased with the look - and the strong colours of the Copic inks really make the image stand out

They would make great Autumn party invite too!

Meanwhile - back in the studio

The last of the summer shows is  done and dusted and I am just itching to have a real good muck out in the studio.  I have not seen the chair for weeks and have gone way past ankle deep in muddle.  I started at the top of my big book case and cleared each shelf - gave it a hood clean - moved stuff about - cleared stuff out to throw/recycle/sell on.  Then I got to my small shelving (it's book case si\e - but a DVD unit - so it takes up less space.  Same routiene - empty - move - clean - sort - etc -etc

phew!  - just look at this - how clean and tidy is this!!!

I have even managed to cleaf off my chair - and clean the floor.

I have cleared out loads of stitching, art and calligraphy books and listed them in my SHOP  so please do have a look arround and pick up a bargain

Now I have the other wall to do - the one with my bench on and all my inks - and papers - and the stuff I use every day

Emmmm - any tips!!!!

New product

The new Martha Stuart Embossing Glitter caught my eye the other week - it is soooo sparkly - but I was hesitant as I did not know how it would look - and if it really would be that sparkly!!

Well - we used it in class this week - and yes it really is that glittery ;-)

This is the card we made with it
The baubles are a Woodware Clear Magic outline stamp and heat embossed with the turquoise Martha Stuart embossing glitter - on a pearly scrapbook paper and coloured with Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust Glitter in green.

It is a fantastic effect
Couple of tips for using the embossing glitter - there is a higher proportion of glitter than normal in the melting powder so -

- make sure that the ink you stamp with is really wet for the mix to stick to

- have your heat gun on the lowest setting - or heat from underneath - otherwise the glitter will blow away before the mix melts.

There are some really yummie colours - and they are not great, big, huge pots - sooo I may just have to do a bit more stamping!

Stretch N Bubbles

Stretch N Bubles - SHOP
Stretch N Bubbles - BLOGSPOT

You have all seen those dreadful adverts on TV to get yourself 'beach ready' - don't you just hate them? All you need is the sun and the sea - and you are soooo beach ready - well this is just perfect beach ready as far as I am concerned.

I am hanging on to summer!  I was tempted a bit to look at Christmas.  The nights are starting to draw in and there is am Autumn chill in the air - but I am digging my heels in and pushing for the last of the summer days.

So this wonderful surf board image is just perfect - in the shop HERE
So then I found some sunny theme paper - and cut some 'waves' - made an oval for the sun and embossed it with rays (glittered and gemmed too of course)

I WON A PRIZE!!!

How cool is that?

I have to hold my hands up - I am just hopeless at checking the challenges I enter - I just never expect to win.  Luckily - I know Helen (she had FMS too - so understands me!) - and she prodded me to say I had win - cool.

I had some credits to spend at

I got a sleeping teddy image - which I made a couple of memory pockets with

Inside is like this
And then I used this seriously wonderful 'by the river' image - I just love the chilled. cool look of this image

I also have a realy cool fairy on a mushroom - which I haven't used yet - looking forward to that one too.  AS WELL as a fence and a bench (which I have wanted for ages) all for a tenner - how good is that?

I have a full time job, so its during evenings, late nights and in weekends I have the chance to make some cards, boxes or LO`s. But I love it. I started in 2003 and I`m now totally addicted. I don’t think I have a specific style, but I`m a big fan of Tim Holtz products, and love coloring stamps with my ProMarker pens. If you are curious of my work please check out my blog. My old LO`s here.

I had the Dr Stork from Stitchery Bear  (I just LOVE Stitchery - there is always so much going on there!!!) - sign up for their emails (there is a freebie most weeks - and all the gossip),

This week I wanted to try to do the minimal / no colour look in the image look that seems to be about at the moment.  I put a bit of pale earth tone in the stork body and a bit of blue to co-ordinate with the theme - but that's all

New Idea

I am not really sure where this idea came from - but it's been brewing for a bit now.  I do quite well with gift idea - boxes, pouches and money cards - and this is expanding on that really.
A purse to put those gift 'credit' cards that all the shops are using now.

I put a credit card (well - my son's phone card) on to a folded sheet of A4 and roughed out an out line - then kept cutting and refining until I worked out a template that will make this purse.

Inside
I can get 2 out of a double sided 12" square paper - which should be a good little number for Christmas and to keep in stock

another one
I like these - and I think they will evolve a bit before I settle on the final one - but it defiantly pretty's up the gift card

Time Off

For those of you who don't know me personally - I have been job hunting with my son - and it's just a nightmare.  He used to be such a happy, bright, helpful little chappie - now he has become the cartoon suky, bad tempered teen.  It's not doing my Fibromyalgia any good at all I a can tell you.

So - long story short - I am going to leave you a few posts for the week - and sneek off to my flat for a few days for a rest

So - -

Kitten (and fidget) is on hols!!! for a few days

Quick Tip

I am at a show at Torver - way out on the top fells - completly in the middle of nothing - so hoping it's fine and dry!!
Left a Quick Tip for you today.
Baker's twine is all the rage at the moment and soo cool.  BUT you have to buy a huge spool - and I bet you don't have the colour you need.

Put a paper sleve round your ruler - wrap some white crochet cotten / twine round - and draw lines with a Copic pen

Cool or what - what? - who would know

It is hosted by the local hunt and so they are pony mad - so I do a few pony things
Super little card - classic palomino colouring

And a no excuses, super cute, really girly, over the top pink,
gift bag - made from an A4 sheet of card
So fingers crossed for a fry day tomorrow!
