Scraper's Delights - wednesday

Scrapper's delights - SHOP
Scrapper's Delights - BLOG

New range of princess images in the Scrapper's Delight's shop now

I think I like colouring these more 'open' images best.  All the dress shading is done with Copic inks - 6 colours of yellow green - and I am really pleased with the way the hair turned out

Simple layout - but some super new papers - Kalihari summer - really hot colours.

Hope you like her.

Darling little album

Hubby at the Best of The Lakes show last week - on You tube

This is my current favourite album pattern - it is so dinky.

It is about 4" square and I love the half flap at the front

There are loads of accordion fold pages inside - I covered them all with different check and stripe papers I had about

The cover wraps round the whole thing to keep it neat and tidy -  and the pages are stuck to each side of the cover

Scrapper's Delights new challenge - Luck of the Irish

Guess who has just bought a new circle cutter!!!

Just had to try it out.

I seem to be in experimantal mood at the moment.  I have left the image plain - but flooded the background with PVA and covered it with green glitter (yes - it is green - not blue!).  It gives an amazing 3D effect, with the image recessed for a change

- so pop over and join in - you don't haveto have a Delights image to add your project

Shelly's Images - Easter Bunny - Show us what you got

Shelly's Blog - HERE
Shelly's Images shop - HERE

We are well into Spring things now.  I love this time of year - all the things are turning green again and the lighter evening are back.  Makes me really feel like things are going to be all ok again.
This darling little bunny with his daffies and Easter eggs is so pretty.  I coloured him in pastels and put him on a gift bag.  You could layer a few paper flowers in the basket to hide the edds and use it for any spring event - see - thrifty is my middle name ;-)

I have to admit I am a bit of a colour tart - My favourate colour changes every time I get in a new paper pack - or with the seasons.  Green in my fave at the moment - it's spring and everything is bursting out with freshness.

This image is from Karan's doodles - check these out - really cool - especially the Christmas ones!

Scrapper's delights - wednesday

Scrapper's delights - SHOP
Scrapper's Delights - BLOG

This week I am messing about with my digis again!!

This is the sentiment that is for with the new princess images.  It is designed so that you can add a sentiment to the circle and use it on your project.

I rather liked the patterned circle - I thought it would make a nice frame.  So I made it quite large and cut it all out - including the middle.

I coloured it with my Copics (I guess digi folk will do it in their image program) - then I raised it over a stamped image.  It gives a super unusual 3D effect.

So there you go - another way to use your digis - don't say I don't give you good value

Shop talk

Quick plug for the Devine Twine - coloured baker's twine - which is starting to sell nicely.  I now have a wholesale account with them - so can keep topping this up.

I have rewound 10 meters onto a plastic spool - that way you get have several colours at a reasonable cost.  I have all the colours at the moment so pop over and pick a couple up.

£1.50 a spool - in the ribbon section

PLUS - wow - oh - wow - the H2Os have arrived!!

No - they didn't go bust / close down / stop making them.

They did get bought out and have gone very quiet over in the UK - not many people are bringing them in.

Often copied - never beaten - these darling little luminescent shimmer paints are so cool.  these are the tiny pots (5gm) - but they last for ages.  I have been using some of mine for at least 4 years now.

Again I am splitting the packs up so that you can buy just a couple of pots at a time - and at just £2 for each little pot who can resist?

Hang with me while I sort out the quantities of each colour and add them to the shop - will be in the paints / inks section

Erica

I have had another busy week.  Sourcing suppliers (Zutter on board now), painting baskets for display and generally trying to get my desk up together and clear.  We are still just waiting for the contracts - it is so frustrating - that is all there is left to do.

I am also have been trying to get some samples made up for Grasmere Gingerbread wedding favours.  Did you know Centura pearl card have just changed their colour range.  There has been huge confusion about what has been discontinued and what is new.  The Baby Pink and Baby Blue are now Freash Pink and Fresh Blue - pretty much similar - but a bit deeper colour.  One of the Purples is now Deep Purple.  I think I have got it now - princes off a colour swatch direct from their site.  I am gonna miss the Lime Green and the Orange I can tell you - must get a load in.

I did get to this darling new teddy digi from Erica - baby waffles and make a card it. afternoon

Just how cute is this??

The layout is very simple really - the only trick is a very fine line of double sided tape around each block of pattern paper - then covered with glitter. - really pretty.  oh - and I added wobble eyes just for fun

Tutorial for Shelly

I thought I would show you how to combine a stamp - ink a background - and use digis with it all - to create a really effective scene.
I love trees - and I used Shelly's set for the trees - that's the beauty of sets - loads of choice.  I wanted to make a scene with a stamp that came free with a magazine - but is cute - but a bit small.

First - stamp your image roughly where you want it on to a piece of card bigger than you what.  The reason you use a big base piece is to give you space to work in.  Then stamp the image again on a scrap piece.  Cut out the image on your scrap piece out very closely.  You will use it to cover the image stamped on your card.

You can do just the same thing with a digi image - just print it in a space - and print another the same size in the corner or on another sheet

Second - take some sticky notes / post-it notes, and place them so that they cover the area that will be your 'ground' and holds the loose masking image in place

I used 2 blues and a pale brown to create the sky colours.  You can use an odd scrap of sponge, the Tim Holtz applicator, a foam block or a finger dabber to apply the ink.  don't use cotton wool - all it does is soak up the ink, leave streaky patches and uneven fluff everywhere.

Leave it a few minutes to dry

Next - move the post-it notes so that you are covering the sky you have just created (still keeping the loose image mask in place) so that you can work on the 'ground'.  I used 2 pink colours and a yellow - going for a warm ice look.   Leave for a few minutes to dry
When you take all the post-it notes off and remove the loose mask from the image it leaves you a clean, clear, crisp look

Cut the picture you have created to the size you want it and mat it to match.

Use the digi trees at different sizes to create the final scheme - cut them out close and add a tiny bit of green and glitter.

Raise them on foam pads to get the depth - and spread them over your scene.

And there you go - a great versatile way to combine digis with other elements

The quote on my card is from Peter Pan - it is the directions on how to get to Never Never Land

Erica Martyn

This month's free digi from Erica is a darling set of owls - seems to be a growing trend for the spring lately - and it is just perfect for all the wonderful spring colours about at the moment.  Isn't it great to be officially into spring now?

I made a really pretty spring card with the image - do pop over and colect yours.

Life

Gosh I have had a week and a half here!!!

I am madly painting shop display, chasing contacts and ordering stock.  We have Devine Twine (in stock Now) - Twinkling H2Os (on the way) - Maya Road are going to let us buy direct - how cool is that?  you can't get the whole range of their chipboard albums and coasters anywhere else in the UK
As I was passing through the shopping centre the other day - our Bon Marche is closing down - shop fittings for sale.  I picked up a huge section of slatwall for £20.  I have been dying to get my hands on some slatwall for ages now - but unless you can grab a shop that is closing to get some the delivery costs are insane.  Picked up 100 small hooks for it on Ebay for £12 - so I am all set with something to display things hanging up.

I also had a workshop with Ester Gundry.  She came up on the train (2 hours) from Warrington - just to take a class for us.  I love her style and I am booked on the next one she is doing.

We used the Grand Caliber to cut the basic card shape - and loads of inking!
Then we made this easel card

All the details are cut out on the caliber - loads of lace and inking

Shelly's Images - Giraffe - Spots and dots

Shelly's Blog - HERE
Shelly's Images shop - HERE
Fab giraffe image to work with this week - super cool.  Everyone loves a giraffe - they are just so elegant aren't they - I can't be elegant this close to the ground - goodness knows what I would be like 'up there'.

Did you know that they still have the same number of bones in their necks as us?  Incredible.

I just happened to have this amazing animal print mulberry paper in a dark corner of the office.  I wanted a change from cards - need to get out more!  So I picked on this really versatile pizza box pattern that I have - thought it would be fun for a lad as well as a girl.

I had this cute unicorn from Copic Marker Scrapbooking - HERE.  Just tell me he isn't just the most darling little thing you have ever seen?  He is coloured with BV Copics - dreaming of growing into a great big beautiful Pegasus - and the large shadow is shaded in the BV0000, with a touch of BV000 and BV00.  I am amazed just how much I use all the extra '0' numbers.  Never thought I would because I love such strong colours - but it's amazing what y ou can do with them
