New mixed media work

I haven't shown you what else we did with Ester yet have I?  Gosh I have been so swamped lately - really trying to streamline the systems now so I get more time.

 I just love this.

I think I amazed everyone by choosing soft vintage colours - way off my normal - but I think it's good to be totally different and try things out - especially as Ester is so good at letting us let ourselves go.  Some classes make you do exactly what the project is and don't let you breathe.  These classes everyone creates something so different - and all the colours and layouts lead you on to try more different combinations and layouts.

That reminds me - I must book in for April - will do that now.

Papercrafting kit

We made this with Ester the other week

It's a beautiful heart hanger.  I thought I would make the shapes up as a kit for you - with an ink pad and a blender - and all the instructions.  I have bought a couple of dies to cut the fancy flower shapes for you - and you can use what ever stamps you have to hand for the background details.  I can add a bit of stuffing so you get a soft rounded shape.

Might do it with book pages as the background - love that.

Good Friday fun

It's a beautiful sunny day in the Auld Gray Town today - there is a Farmer's Market in the square (which I will drop up to later for my lunch!) - and I am open 10 - 3ish - depends how it goes - if there are still loads of people about i will hang on a bit - if not I will go home and start on the work there!

Hubby is taking me out for a bite to eat later - which I am really looking forward too.  We can have a good old natter and catch up on stuff.  I am feeling much better this week - I was totally wrecked last week.

Been making something

We finally have a bit of snow today - sorry - but we haven't had any this past week - just bitterly cold.  

So just what has the muppet kitten been doing now it's snowing?  Standing outside and screwing hooks into the new post stand hubby made me for the knitting kits - that's what!!

Not a brain cell to call my own I can tell you ;-)

Anyway - it is finished

It is kind of like a big bird feeder - but with loads of wire baskets for my kits. I can put them in the baskets - and I can peg them to the sides.  The base needs building up a bit on one side yet - there is not a flat, even bit of floor anywhere here!

I am trying to decide whether to make a sign for the top

Something totally new for you this week

I have a growing market for card blanks that people can add cross stitch into ( and a couple of knitters and quilters joining in) - - so - - I have got in loads of what they call 2 fold aperture cards.  The cards have 3 panels - with a cut hole in the middle panel to put your work/picture under - and one panel that folds to hide the back of your work - and the other panel makes it into a normal looking card.

I buy these loose and make them up into convenient  packs for you (with envelopes) to make it easy to select what you need.  I have mostly cream and white at the moment - with round / square / rectangle apertures - in both A6 and a bit smaller.

I have loads in stock at the moment - and I will add red and green nearer to Christmas

Sorry all - I have been a bit rough.

I had a really busy week - then an over-the-top weekend (work!!), so I started the week over tired - then I think the cold got me and I have been fragile all week.  I closed early om Friday - and shut just after lunch on Saturday - I just could not cope anymore.  

having said that - it is bitterly cold - but we have no snow!  A few miles down the road there are huge snow drifts and cars stranded - we have nothing - one solitary flake drifted down this afternoon - not even anything on the top fells.  No idea why it seems to have gone all around us.

Anyway - I will try to do better next week - just let it warm up a bit P-L-E-A-S-E

Button collections in there own little (handmade) boxes.

I buy assorted buttons by weight and split them up into manageable quantities - these are 40gms.  They are a wonderful mixture of sizes - patterns - shades - shapes - loads of different eyelets and details.

And - like this - unique to me

Buttons are just as exciting as ribbons ;-)

New Idea

Hear's a new idea for the Tando printer trays - I just suddenly had a brain wave

how about a jewellery tray!  I covered the base with fabric scraps using double sided sheets - made up the top frames and painted then all sorts of pretty colours.  It would be great done in colours to match your room

gosh - I had my busiest week ever last week - fantastic - loved every minute.

 On Saturday I had a parcel of quilling supplies delivered.  I know this comes and goes - but it is always good to try something new - and the kits have everything you need in them.


You get a bundle of the thin papers - glue - loads of instructions - AND the little tool - everything you need to make an A6 card - a smaller card/tag and a pretty box.

I thought they would make a super holiday craft kit as you have everything together - and it's great to try something different

I have also got the thin paper strips - I just picked up one of each - all the same colour tones - as well as the assorted colour packs.  If it's a hit I will add to the range - they do a couple of books - and some super larger kits.

Did you see my table?

I have finally got my newly painted table into the shop

The goat has cut an uneven shape out of MDF for the top and I painted it cream.  I am really chuffed with it - just shows how different something can look with a bit of coloured paint (and it was free!)

I have been a bit lax with the blog this week - sorry.  2 Reasons really - the trip to Stitches really wore me out - and filled my head so much it has taken a while to digest it all! - second - I am overrun with wedding favors.  Absolutely brilliant - but it does keep me occupied!  I got 60 pouches out last week - with die cut bells - ribbon bows and named swing tags - I have 100 little tote bags to get out next week - all with the bride and groom's names on - 50 to get out ASAP as she wants to decorate them - another 100 to get out by the end of this month - and then 2 more month's worth of weddings.  Love it!!!

I am opening the shop today - yes on a Sunday.  There is a food festival in the town this weekend and I just thought that after all the effort that had gone into organizing it all  - I should show support for the town and open.  Hubby is in the Westmoreland Shopping Centre working all day as well.  I don't expect I will sell anything much - but there is always the wedding favors to keep me busy!

Something totally new for you this week - I am hugely honored to be selling the hand knitting of Izzy's Sox.

Izzy has been looking for an outlet in Kendal to stock her socks - hats - scarves - and now her dog coats.

She makes wonderfully coloured eclectic pieces - all hand knitted, not machine.

The socks are truly unique - even a pair is different!  They would be great under wellies - or chilling about the house to keep your toes warm - £12.50

And one of the smaller terrier dog coats - really a fashion statement! - £10.50

She can make different sizes and colourways to order so just email me if you are interested.  She also has her own section in the on-line shop which I will add stuff to as she makes them.

been decorating again!!!

Now that the knitting kits are becoming an item I need proper space to organize them so I can find them easily.  I am such a 'sorter outer' - I just love setting up a system and getting things neat.

So - I have painted my little box room.  I stripped off all the horrid wood chip - well it fell off really - I think it only stayed up because the room has so many short walls and corners!  And I have painted it a lovely vibrant green - Pistachio I think it was.  I had loads of those wall slot strips and shelf brackets knocking about in the shed - so it only cost me the actual wood shelves.  Hubby put it all up - there are still a couple of shelves to fit in when he has time - but you can see how wonderful and neat it all is.  The green trays are seed trays - bit fragile - but cheep and cheerful - each tray has a different kit in it - the instructions - weighted yarn - and anything that just gets used in that kit (the bells and ribbon for the cat for example - or all the eye pieces for the owl).  The big box at the bottom has all the stuff that gets used in all the kits - the packaging - needles etc.

The flower pot kit is ready now - the pattern is availiable as a download and in the kindle store if you prefer that.  The complete kit is in the shop - I am not going to add it on-line because it includes the pot - and you can bet it would get cracked in the post

CROSS STITCH CAT

I have had this kit in a drawer for - it must be 20 years.  One day before Christmas about cross stitch and things and I said I had not done it yet and she badgered me into letting her do it 'just for fun'.

She has made the most amazing job it of - way neater than I could ever have done - and much faster - it would have taken me years.  The book titles are all cat themed too - really funny.  I took it to the picture framers in the indoor market here (we have so many picture framers in the town - but these guys are just so good) - I thought it was so beautiful that it deserved the special attention.

There is good news - I have found a company that just does quilling.  The paper strips and assorted kits.  The prices are very good and I will be ordering you some when I get my feet back onto the earth!

Bad news - there is no free hand embroidery anywhere - could not find anything at all.  There is still quite a bit of cross stitch about - and I will be stocking Textile Heritage kits - really pretty matching sets, and just a little harder than the Mouseloft ones - so a good step up for you.

I have ordered loads of brilliant little books for you - a series called '20 to Make'.  Lovely photos and projects to inspire you.

There is a company that imports hand made Russian 'dolls' - well they are kits to paint them up as animals.  Good quality wooden blanks to paint - you get 3 shapes - the paint - paint brush - and the instructions for about £10 - planning on that for the summer hols

We have also got House Of Crafts on board - they do fab kits of all sorts - including candles, soap and bath bombs - that is more of a Christmas thing.

Got loads of ideas for projects of our own - and some brilliant ideas for rally cute little gifts and treats for yourselves - and don't get me started on the mini rolls of fancy fabrics and trims.

There was loads of sewing - and knitting is going to be HUGE still.  I visited my haberdashers/knitting/type suppliers to say hi and ask them to match a ribbon colour for a large wedding favor order - they are such nice guys - so helpful - so hi to everyone at 'Simons' and a huge 'thank you' from us here

Hi to the wonderful guys at Mouseloft - the new 'Little Dog' range is super - we will be getting that in for the summer - and the 'Tiddlers' range too I think (just gotta sneak that  one past the old goat xx)

I have also applied for a Craft Creations trade account - so we can go big on the aperture type cards for you - I know you buy them before I can get more - so we should be sorted now!
