Something a bit different for you today.  Remember when I said that the new challenge was 'think outside the box' - I think this is outside the box and in the next street ;-) 

I used a pretty flower stamp as an embroidery guide.

Checking your copy right

The other week I had someone screaming and shouting at me that I should take down my princesskitten page on Facebook because they owned 'intellectual property' on it.  I am sure they did not really understand what it really meant - and I know a lot of people are unsure on copyright issues as well.  I found this chart which helps explain if you 'own' your design / idea.

It's quite a minefield - and people do get seriously over critical when they claim someone has copied them.  In truth we are all inspired by each other and although I do feel physically sick when someone says they are buying my product just to take it home and copy it - I have to get used to it - it does happen - and then, they are the ones with no skill or imagination

This is beginning to get very monotonous - there will be no journal page today - as we are playing the leaky roof game again

actually I am not really - there is no damage - and I have put a big bucket under the drip.  I am going to have a cup of tea and chill.  I may ut up the Christmas tree - that takes no brain power!

The 'up' side of builders

Now here's a bit of a giggle for you today

Last night was the dreaded Kendal firework display - and those of you that visit Henry Shop Dog will know he is just dreadful with noises.

Last night I actually remembered to close the curtains so he could not see any of the flashes and when he had a bit of a grump - I told him it was those nasty old bangie builders on the roof again - and he believed me!!!  Only at the very last finale did he get really upset.

So there is an upside to the builders being in and out for the past 8 months

Tidy up week

I am spending a day or so catching up and tidying round so I can start putting up the Christmas tree in the shop.  I am getting my sewing under control thanks to my new tidy space - and I have to say that the cotton reel holder is working out the best thing I have ever used to store my threads.  You can see instantly the colours - all the bits are together - and the tails don't get in a tangle!

I have screwed it directly to the outside of the airing cupboard door so it's right behind me when I use my sewing machine.  This morning I was finishing off some collars and sewing on velcro - one seam - change colour - sew velcro - change colour - hem bandanna - change colour - etc - absolutely brilliant!

What you need is lovely customers - which I have in spades - then if you have one that is an amazing baker - you get treats when the do the Made in Cumbria events.

Saturday - my missions completed

Pushed for time today - really got to get cracked on with Personal Impressions work.

I just want to show you my reclaimed dinning area and my beautiful up-cycled sewing table

First the before - bit of a muddle with stuff everywhere

Now - I have sorted everything out properly - given the carpet a good clean and moved stuff about a bit

and I have painted my junk shop find table - it has a strong dark yellow under tone with cream chalk paint and gold highlights - love it.

Now I must dash and get cracking!

Sneaky Peak!!!!

Thank you all for your kind thoughts - yes - the roof is holding up after the work they did last week and it seems dry.  It's a bit hard to tell as it's all so stained now - but everything feels dry.  I reckon if we get through this week we will be fine as long as they remember to keep checking that the pub has not broken it all again.

And that's just as well - a new parcel of brand new Sweet Dixie dies has arrives for me to create with - and they are gorgeous!

Next weeks mission

I won't have time to play with my journal today.  After the continuing saga of the roof - which leaked again this last week - I am way behind and the back room is piled high with stuff to sort out.

My mission of next week  - and I have no choice but to accept it ;-) - is to reclaim my little dinning area.  Now that I have finally got rid of all the shop display stuff that I have been hoarding for my son I can get myself organised again.  At the moment it's just a dumping ground with my sewing machine taking all the table.

 And a huge pile of stuff that needs sorting and finding a home for.  I am going to be really ruthless and take it all in hand.  I want to get a separate little table for my sewing machine so I can have my big table back and organise my clutter so that I can find everything easily.

I will let you know how I geton in the week.

Lindsay Mason - Zendoodle stamps

I love that Lindsay has produced outline stamps for you to do your own zendoodles - well at least so she thought ;-) 

I love the open spaces of these stamps - they are perfect for paper piecing - or fabric applique - or sharing with the kiddies to colour their own cards this year.

I am experimenting with making my own ink pad again

You can get such a light delicate effect - totally different from other stamping methods.  I think it may be because the ink has not really soaked through the ink pad so it's patchy and uneven - I like it.  Now I will have to find some stuff to add on top and try to keep the light tough - good luck with that kitten ;-)
