Christmas is coming!!!!

OK chaps - you have nagged me into it - Christmas is here!!

Lots of stock has arrived - some is still drifting into the country and there will be new bits and bobs right through til November.

Few of the highlights
- we will be stocking House Mouse stamps.  In case you have not come across these darling little chaps before they are super quality cling-mount rubber stamps are made from deeply etched, precision trimmed premium grey rubber. With 1/8" thick grey foam for a smooth impression on uneven or textured surfaces. The cling stamp, are backed with a full sized, indexed sheet of acrylic cling vinyl. The index allows for exact placement of the image when used with a clear acrylic handle.

so far I have picked up a few Christmas ones - but if you like them I will be adding more to the range.

I have a few die cut greetings from a new company - thought they would be really useful

and there are shapes coming in as they arrive in the country from the USA

Mouseloft Christmas cross stitch are in - I also picked up the Biscuit the Cat range - and the Little Dog range - thought they would make cute stocking fillers.

Felt ornaments to make for the tree are also super kits for stocking fillers - or you to make your self

there are 11 different ones all together - so loads of choice - but get in quick - once they are gone there won't be any more this year!

Tando shapes will arrive next week - loads of fantastic shapes and projects on a Christmas theme - fantastic ideas  and really unusual. 

Felt - foam - ribbon - embroidery threads - yarns - all in bright modern Christmas colours - or more traditional vintage Christmas colours

Have been plastering

I thought that I would start showing my son how to DIY - starting with taking off a short row of tiles in my kitchen.  I think he got a bit carried away - he took off the tiles - and the plaster - and the under coating - right back to the raw brick work!!!!

Never mind - now he has to learn how to plaster a wall

new knitting section

 - well - section is too grand a title really!

The first of our 'overhaul' projects is underway - the small passageway that still had the last section of the false walling in place has been stripped out.  There is now the plain painted plaster wall and a wooden panel with hooks for the yarn storage.  The yarn section has grown and grown - I never expected that one - but love all the knitting and crochet going on.

I have been putting some serious time into updating the website - and - although it is not perfect (and never will be!!!!) - I reckon it's pretty much as up to date as it can be ;-) - so that's done.

new handbag

I have just bought the most beautiful handbag and purse.

The lady that makes them is called Veronica - and she is in the Westmoreland Shopping Center on Wednesdays - and at Art on the Prom in Grange at the end of the month.

I asked her to look out for something 'vintage' looking - clocks - or postcards - maps or something - -and just look what she made me.

Just how gorgeous is this!!!  I haven't had a new hand bag for years and years - and I am so thrilled with this.

Christmas is coming!!!

phew - what a couple of weeks we have had!  The town has been busy - the shop has been busy - I have had a couple of big jobs to get through and we are starting to plan Christmas.

Now - this week we get the kids off our hands - back to school ;-) - - so we can turn our thoughts towards CHRISTMAS.

Yes - really.  It's been noticeable this past week or so just how many of you are dropping the 'C' word - so I have been out and about (spending loads o' money) getting you Christmas stuff.

New stamps - LOADS of papers - new spritzers - picked up a few die cutters - new Mouseloft ranges - Now stocking Housemouse stamps - kids crafts to make - new Tando shapes - new christmas knitting kits - silly stocking fillers.

It is all starting to drift in - and I am making a really BIG effort to get the website polished and up to date.  I will try to get a newsletter out this month so sign up on the website if you want to stay in touch with a newsletter (you won't get overloaded - I only manage 2 or 3 a year!)

And - 'like' the Facebook page to keep up to date with all the small details as they happen

starting a new project

OK - so I have a compulsion to decorate!

This is the 'before' picture.

It's about 5 years since I did anything to the kitchen - and then I just slapped a coat of paint up.  I have started stripping the wall papers - and I do mean papers - there are so meany layers of paper and paint that the room will be an inch bigger when I have finished.  I am going to start showing my son how to do all sorts of jobs - and we are going to strip the wall - lay a floor - put up some cabinets etc.

Don't hold your breath - it will take me ages - I am hoping to be finished before Christmas.

New mouse sewing kit

A bit of a different line in the kits for you - I have made up my 'mouse' as a little sewing project.

I have got some wonderful 'exotic' golds printed fabrics - and I also got hold of some small clear plastic containers.  So - as always you get everything that you need to make the project and the pattern to keep - and a little box to keep it neat while you work it.  Super little holiday /weekend project

The Works have some amazing storage boxes.  I have been umming - and ahhing for ages- but now they are down to £5 each - and they are fab quality.

I bought 3 to store my fabrics in - London - New York and Paris.  They are 12" square so would do for scrapbooking too.

New calligraphy text in work

 have just started work on a new commission - a huge poem.

 have only just started - and the ink is really playing up - I am doing 3 lots at the same time - one is a really rough practice - one is a 'trying hard' one - and one is 'for best'.

Normally I work up a complete piece to practice the layout - but I though that as this is so big it would be better to work through line by line.

I didn't quote much to do the work - I really need the practice - and this is the biggest piece I have ever done.  Just keep your fingers crossed foe me!

New ideas

You often ask where I get my ideas - and here is a perfect example of how my butterfly mind works.

Lady came in this morning asking if I had a pattern for a Christmas cracker to knit. - which I don't.

So that get's me thinking - cast on - couple of rows - picot edge - holes for ribbon - bit of a pattern in the centre - - 

That started me off again - it's half written in my head - just need to test knit it to work out stitches and rows - - and  oh - oh - oh - - how about it as a kit!!

So next time you come in the shop - perhaps you should ignore me!!!  ;-)

LIFE

I can't believe it's August - - who stole the year - - my head is still stuck in May.  

Now it's August - the new Argos catalogue is out - - -the ((Christmas)) one - and we are planning for the kids to get back to school (more time to craft ;-) ).  I bought some solar lights reduced in the sales - thought they would look pretty around the front door when the clocks change - bit of a welcome home thing.

just a bit scary - how fast is this year going!

Leaks AGAIN!!!

This is the phost of Grange that I was going to post on Tuesday - as you can see I just spread out everywhere.  It was very overcast first thing when I took this - but it was fine in the afternoon.

 - - and the reason that it did not get posted on Tuesday?  I walked into the shop into an absolute nightmare.  The gutters had flooded again over the weekend and the shop was a total mess - plus I had all the stuff from Grange piled up in boxes everywhere.

It took me all of Tuesday to clear the back room and wash everything.  All the shelves had to come off and I got the good old Miltons over everything.  It was all covered in silt - and you can't be too careful can you - you don't know what much was in the flood water.

LUCKY the stock was ok.  Everything is in boxes - or those plastic crates I use (which don't have any drainage holes) - so all that got damages was a fes money box boxes.

There is a big renovation scheduled for all our little shops - the poor old building are desperately in need of it - but until then - they are not going to do anything to sort it out.  I got very little sleep last night - just lay there listening to the rain.  Got up at one point and had a cup of tea - or two.

But we are fine this morning - just a bit of leakage on the back wall - but it's not doing my nerves any good!
