Last Saturday

I have my lad in the shop today to 'supervise' as only he can - and I am having my nails done later - killer red with glitter tips I think as I am not crafting for a bit.  Can't normally have that really vamp red as it comes off on the project and leave little red specks ;-)

Then home for a Chinese take away - yumms

and a week off

Do You Stack Up? Challenge blog - #103 Anything goes

* Winner’s Choice of  5 digital stamps

* Winner's Choice of 3 Digis

* Winner's choice of 1 of Digital Stamp Sets

This image came from My Heart Pieces - it's so full of little details that I decided to leave it uncoloured. I inked all around the edge of the image and just coloured the little candle flames and the star in metallic gold to match all the matting (which is all shiny gold by the way - does not show well in the scan.)

It's very plain for me - but I love the variety of texture created by the distress inking (Iced Spruce - if you want to know)

Shop Talk

This is the very last complete week before Christmas - and I am expecting to be quiet in the shop.  Let's face it - if you haven't made your cards by now - opps ;-) .  I only have a few more posts going live before Christmas as I want to get my stuff for the guys done as well.

I do still have several gift bags left - stuffed with crafting goodies - for a lovely gift for a crafter - and there are still some felt ornament kits that make a great stocking filler.

It's been a megga year for me as you know - and next year hold so much more I just can't wait.

I am going to take the whole of the Christmas week off from the shop and work from home.  I am going to re-vamp the website to include down loads.  These will feature not only projects to make with full instructions and templates - but we will be launching the Evsie's Flirty Fairies' range.  Digital images that have been drawn by Robin Grenville-Evans in his own style - fairies for grown-ups.  These are not your usual cutie little poppets - these gals have attitude!

I am also going to split the shop site into 2 parts with already crafted separate from the supplies - that side is more popular on line - so I am going to make it easier for you all to find your way about all the goodies.  As always - your feedback is welcome and much appreciated - it's so hard to proof read your own descriptions - and I need to know how easy you find it to use the site.

So my lovelies - thank you all for a fantastic year - and I wish you all a peaceful and creative Christmas break

Do You Stack Up? Challenge blog - #102 Christmas

* Winner’s Choice of 5 Digis

* $20 Gift Certificate

I had really sweet little angel from Wags and Whiskers.  I have had images from them before - and I find them really super to work with - clean, neat lines that print well and are lovely to colour.

I don't know about you - but I am getting just a little bit fed up of Christmas cards ;-) - so I made a pretty hanger instead.  I left the image fairly plain - just stardust red for her ribbons - a bit of very pale shading on her skin - and (although it does not show in the pickie) red iridescent H2Os on the wings which catch the light wonderfully.
The hanger is fun - Divine Twine in cherry and the new solid red - chain stitch crochet with a few faceted beads and a couple of bells

Do join us this week with something a bit different

New Site

Had a good night's sleep last night snuggled up in loads of blankies and a hot water bottle - gosh it's cold.  I have been to Argos and got Henry a doggie heat pad - you put it in the microwave to heat it up and put it in the bed.  He is very happily snuggled up to it now - he was really struggling this morning bless him.

I have a new site for you to check out.  She was a DYSU winner a while back and has been our guest designer as well.  Just sometimes someone touches you with their warmth and dedication, and I think Elizabeth fits that bill (you may know her from The Craft's Meow)

Anyway check out what she is up to at the moment HERE

Life!

Spent over 12 hours in Lancaster Hospital yesterday with my lad having emergency surgery to drain an abscess.  We got home just after midnight.  He is absolutely fine - sore but much more comfortable.  I am wrecked and still asleep so very quiet day for me and an early night.

The goat will be in the shop over lunch time - covering for me while I get my nails done - so be gentle with him ;-)

Silly fun

I saw a picture of these somewhere and thought it was just such silly fun that I had to have a go.

I scribed the greeting first - to get the size of the label that I needed - then worked out the mouse size to fit what I wanted.  Might change the ear shape next year.  They are all hand drawn and cut - love it!

Tidy up day!

Well done to all who turned out in the horrendous rain last night - the poor old goat got stuck in a lake (puddle) and had to take his shoes and socks off!

So - here we are

Well - not me obviously - I was taking the snaps - but the stall is all set up - and the silly old goat had wound flashing lights round his top hat.

I am having a tidy up day today.  I just pulled out most of the window to take last night - so I am re-dressing it and moving all last Christmas stuff about.

There are several goodie bags in the window - trying to highlight them a bit, and I have sold a couple.

I am going to start on my own Christmas card list using up the left overs - so if there is anything you fancy get in quick!

Do You Stack Up? Challenge blog - #101 Gold & Silver

Super cool challenge challenge for you this week - just right for Christmas - any excuse for more bling ;-)

Rhoda Design Studio
* $15 gift certificate to spend on Cutting Files or Digis

Bugaboo Stamps
* Winner's Choice of 7 Images

Stampendous!
* Frantage Aged Gold Embossing Enamel and Frantage Aged Silver Embossing Enamel

I had a camera image from Rhoda Design studio - not had her stuff before - I thought the camers was a great image for an album cover.

I did stretch the brief a bit to include silver grey as a colour - and I paper pieced the image as well.  I printed the image 3 times onto the front of different papers - used one as the background and cut out and added the bits I fancied.  I have coloured several parts of the camera with silver metallic paint - but the scan is rubbish at showing silver - and I added a silver cord to what would be the loop hole in a real camera just for fun..  The paper I used to cover the book covers is so cool - it's all sort of ticket stubs so it matches perfectly.

This is just the front cover.  I wanted to make the middle pages of 'hairy manila  card stock (kraft to you USA gals) - when I went to the rack to get some - it has all sold ;-)  - well done kitten - well on top of that one then!  It will have to wait to be finished until I can order some more card.

I am really trying not to visit any more wholesalers until January and they have some big bargains to bag.  Only weakened twice so far this month (and one of them was not my fault)

Christmas show

 It's my favorite show of the year tomorrow night.  Dobson's Jaguar Garage at Levens have their annual Christmas knees up to raise money for the Hospice.

It's a beautiful building and they take out all the posh cars and let local arts and crafts people take over - I say local - but people drive for 40 and 50 miles away - and that's a huge distance on our small country lanes.  I can't wait - there is always some new faces to meet and old faces to catch up with - and so many really clever people.  I have bought some beautiful things there (usually spend more than I take)

I only said to the goat at the week end that it has snowed for the past 2 years - last year was bitterly cold - freezing fog - huge snow drifts - i can't believe the weather forecast today saying the the snow is coming in tomorrow.  I must see if they can hold it a week earlier - it was mild last week ;-).

I am going to take all my Christmas stuff - cards and supplies- the last of the suncatcher kits and the felt kits - plus all the kitting kits (plus the new one).  Now if there is anything in particular you would like me to bring just let me know.  And I will see you all there

New idea

My latest hare -brained idea

A cute little 'wrapper' that holds 2 Ferrero Rocher.  They look best in a decent weight double sided paper - you cam get 4 out of one 12" sheet.  You could jazz them up with all sorts of embellishments - I have levt them plain as I was just tinkering about.

These would make a super place setting at the dinner table - I think I will do them as wedding favours as well with an embossed pattern

I just could not resist this darling little Santa Cat from Broken Box Stock - and I thought I would make something really quick and simple so that you could make loads of them for after Christmas
Here is the card

Darling little A7 size - purrrfect for just a quick thank you - and I have a cool trick to make it easy for you.

In which ever program you use to do your digital images - open an A4 size - set the images out as in the diagram below - make sure you get them the right ways round.  Cut into quarters as the dotted lines.  Colour and embellish your images - then fold your 4 little cards in half.

clean and tidy

Just to prove that my back room does see tidyness sometimes

After the rain came in (again) last week I have cleaned and bleached everything so it's all beautiful.

I was so worried about the week end's rain - but that was fine - everything stayed dry.  I don't know what it was about the rain on Friday night that was different??

Sunday - I'm working!

Sunday I have spent pottering about - I had to drop in on the shop.  Just when you think the week has just about thrown everything it had at you - there was water debris about the shop floor?  We have a really heavy hail/snow storm and I think the gutters must of over flowed.  So that just about rounded off a very muddled week

oh - and Hen-pen has a touch of kennel Cough - had to go to the chemists for some Calcough bless him (he just licks it out of the palm of my hand).

Anyway - pottering about on the Internet and catching up on stuff - I have found a super cool new site with loads of free designs and patterns.

http://www.favecrafts.com/

I was looking for some knitting patterns for dollies.  I have been asked to knit two Christmas dresses for dollies (how much fun is that ;-) ), and I found a super little shift dress with a bit of fair Isle pattern on the bottom.  I can't wait to get back to work on Tuesday and start them!

Also - just the funniest thing - I have had 4 or 5 enquiries for bead stringing this past week.  Bit of Deja vu going on here - I spent 15 years working in the jewellery trade - in the shop - in the office - window dressing - book keeping - on the workshop bench - and - spooky - I was pearl stringing for about 6 years.  At the time that Princess Diana was wearing her big 3 row fitted pearl chokers - I was stringing and fitting 3 or 4 pearl chokers of 3 or 5 rows every week - the best one was a 12 row seed coral choker.  OMG - every row had to be fitted to her neck to sit properly.  I wonder if she ever had it re-strung?

After the old goat and I had a bit of a gossip about it - I thought I would take it up again.  I am way out of practise - but if there is a need for it I am going to stock a few bits and bobs for jewellery repair and take up restringing again.  the haberdashery wholesalers stock that sort of thing so I have picked up some supplies and will get a space in the flat sorted out to work in.  I will launch it all properly after Christmas (still so much Christmas stuff to get sorted - yikes).

I have soooooo much planned for the New Year - can't wait.

Knitting kit

OK boys and girls - this is your last knitting kit before Christmas - and on a Christmas theme.

Gorgeous knitted holly broach
Just how darling is this one?

You will need a little bit of experience as there are a couple of new techniques but I have done my best to break it down into small manageable chunks.  It is so great - you could use it for loads of things as well as just putting a broach pin on the back.

Available in 'Antique' or 'modern' red/green
