Life

I had a lousy night last night.  The dogs have a touch of kennal cough - and of course the were barking at the fireworks all evening which made their throats even more sore.  They were coughing all night - poor little fidget was sick a couple of times.

so far they are both asleep.  I will pop along to Pets At Home in a while and get them some cough medacine

Stretch n Bubbles

Kids love things with their name on don't they?  Here is a quick - simple idea for the playground bunch and very cheep too (really important when you have loads to do)

This little darling is Gumble and available HERE

So I made a door / coat hook hanger.

I cut a 4" Strip of card and covered the bottom part with an amazing 'alien' pattern paper from Crate paper (don't know if it's still available - but this was a wonderful series with space ships, aliens, planets and things).  I just drew round my pencil sharpener to get the circle and trimmed the card to match

I have entered this in to The Pink Elephant - red, blue and yellow challenge as well

Stretch n Bubbles

I was lying in bed thinking - like you do - and I thought - how would it work if you printed the notebook cover FIRST - then use the paper to cover the board instead of sticking on the image?

This darling monster is from Stretch n Bubbles HERE

There are several monsters to choose from - collecting them all!

So I made the cover - and made up the book.

There is a technique to making a proper book cover - must do a how to on it - it really is worth the effort to get it right.

I used reds - red hinges and the inside of the cover is covered with a red wood effect paper - so perhaps boys might like it too.

Inside are 20 sheets of matching cream card.

Day Off

Monday is kitten's day off

We have had our little house today - jeepers she has grown.  She has doubled in size and now takes up all my lap space - fidget NOT at all keen on that!

But - it's just magic - off they go up the garden to play.  It's funny really - we have a huge garden because we have half of  next doors garden (because they hated gardening) - now we have their dogging going berserk with ours in what was their bit of garden.

Well - I could not leave them and go off to my summer house - so I have spent the afternoon catching up with my site listing and Internet jobs (and playing my cafe game with my mates - shhhh)

New Idea

I picked up a few sheets of shrink plastic a while back - with the vague idea that it would be fun to make charms for cards.  Then I lost them in the office - like you do! - found them today.

So - today I have been playing with shrink plastic
Have you tried it?

It's SCARY - it does THINGS - and I don't know what it's up too.  I guess I will get used to it the more I do - but you really have to see it to believe it.

The big stocking is one of the new Woodware (yeah - I so love Woodware) - and the teenie-weenie shape on the fibre is the same image - shrunk

Tried all sorts to print/stamp - and ended up with good old Staz-on (much as I don't like it - it has it's uses)

Colouring - tried Copics - but they don't go with Staz-on so had to do it on the back - mess.  Tried my Ink-tense - mess.  Then I sanded the plastic a tiny bit to give the pencil something to hang on to - success.  Well - as close to a success as I had all afternoon.

so - any ideas on colouring would be very welcome

New cards

I have finished ny batch of 'chocolate drink' cards.
It is just a bit of sillyness for the Christmas shows really - and an idea I just had to get out of my head before I moved onwards.
Other than that - I have been chillin' really :-)

Challenges

On a roll today - 2 challenges met!

Helen at Elephantastic Challenge is doing Halloween - you know me and Halloween images!

This is the wonderful pumpkin from Stretch n Bubbles that I have used before - totally different look though.

I made the pumpkins all different sizes - and coloured different shades. The pumpkin shapes have 1mm raiser pads just in the middle - so it is not really deep - but you get some wonderful shading going on.

Challenges

This week on A Spoon Full Of Sugar it's all about punching and die cutting.

This is the frist time I have used the girl pirate from Stretch n Bubbles.

This is a wonderful image - you can make it look do different by using differnt colours and papers - and it's so detailed.

I wanted to keep the image fairly uncolplicated because there is so much going on with the paper.

The die cuts I used - nesties (lagle 8) and the Cuttlebug skull and crossbones set. And the paper is a very old Rusty Pickle design

Life

I have packed the guys off to Manchester to see the Egypt exhibition - goodness knows if they will get there!
Then I spend most of the morning wrapping parcels - wow thanks guys - several sales this week. It's a huge boost to my morale - someone actually LIKES my stuff.
I have done lots of bits and bobs - but nothing major - I really must get my desk tidy (yeah - OK - so that's not going to happen).
Got some design work to do tomorrow - so there will be something to show you all.

NEW IDEA

You know - those flashes in the night moments?

This was one of those moments

This was the starting point HERE

I thought - if I made it a pocket I could tuck something into it. So I used fine double sided tape just at the sides and bottom - and because I was putting some strain on the joins I added a brad in the corners.

OK - so this would be 'large letter' to post - but - hay - what a way to chear up a mate?

Overheard

It's ages since I posted an 'overheard' from my son's gaming.  Not strictly overheard - but I put my head round the door to ask something - after he awnsered he said - 'AW THANKS mum - now you have killed me!

To which I said - 'Great - you won't need feeding tomowwow'

now he is 16 - you really don't need to see the full reply - but the gist of it was 'yes'!

Life

We have a weekend guest - I had forgotten all about puppy manners (well - lack of manners)
It is total bedlam - and I have hardly done any work, but it's soooo funny. Puppy is only 4 - 5 months old - all paws and floppies. She has eaten up all scraps off the floors - and has been learning to go up the big stairs.
The palace guard dog is nursing his squeaky toy and refusing to get involved (she is too big and rough for him) - fidget is run ragged, but can't settle (he has to look out for his mummy, and he does not really know what other dogs are) - and puppy is falling over tired, but won't stop in case she misses anything. She is everywhere - into everything - but she is such a sweetie - just starting to learn a few words

Stretch n Bubbles

I made this card for a challenge - but when I got round to entering it the challenge was ended. I am always doing that - by the time I work out what I am going to do - it's been and gone.

Never mind - it's a beautiful image from Alison - I just love the shape. In the SHOP HERE.

The dress is layered - I shaped it up and used silicone glue to mount it. I prefer using silicone glue to raiser pads because it holds a nicer shape. Loads of tiny gems and half pearls at the top - I use nail gems because they are smaller than normal card makers gems.

$1 Digi Day - Stretch n Bubbles

Alison over at Stretch n Bubbles has had a brilliant idea - Each week there will be a digi on offer for just $1 - that's about 63p for us - AND because it's a digi, that's all you need to spend.

How cool is that - a new image to play with for less that the cost of a KitKat (and it lasts longer :-) ).

This is an on-going offer, the image will be different every Friday, and the price will be valid all week - I will remind you every week so you don't miss out

Challenges

Bit better today - thought I would get a couple of challenges under my belt.  I live to dig out new ones and I found The PInk Elephant are having a colour challenge - orange and brown

I don't normally like shoe images - but I love this one from Stretch n Bubbles.  I think it's because It is much more goth/grunge/witch than glam

The colouring is very simple Copic - just a bit of blending in the shoes.  The greeting is part of the digi too so you don't have to worry about that.  It is nicely below so you could cut it off if you wanted.  The swirly bit on the side is punched and sewn through with dark orange thread and whipped with gold

Life

I have a stinking cold - how did that happen?  I thought I would have a quiet afternoon on the sofa and line up a few pages ready to scribe of poems (that's the boring bit) - could not even manage that.  I have managed a few 15 minute chunks and ruled up 4 or 5 pages for my ferret poem.

Soooo fed up - so much to do

Soggy, drippy kitten signing out

Challenges

The Chrisama challenge this week is all about folding - so I have entered my little 'pressie' hanger - folds to make the box part - smart eh!

This project is using the Stretch N Bubbles 'watering Can' - shop here

Make it out of decent weight double sided scrapbook card so you get pretty patterns both sides.

I have made a tag with a greeting - and added to / from on the back of the hanger

You could add any of the SNB digi images on the front really - to suit the person you made it for.

Stretch n Bubbles

I think I must be in a cutting out mood at the moment

This little chappie is 'Flit' and available here from the Stretch n Bubbles shop

First thing I thought - look super on a little stick as a gift tag for a plant pressie - you can all cope with this.
Double sided with a cocktail stick or bit of garden cane in the middle

Then I thought - what if I cut an aperture in a card so I can put a backing paper inside - then tuck a cut out birdie into the bottom and raise it over the background?

- So that's what I have been doing this afternoon!

Dragons

Almost caught up with all the computer work I could not do yesterday - so I can show you the dragons I did earlier.

I always feel like I cheat the men - you can't add glitter or gems or bows - I do sneek in the odd ribbon stripe or bit of funky fibres - but it is generally disaproved of (unless you are my hubby - who LOVES anything with glitter and bling)

I did make some gents cards with torn papers and a few buttons a couple of years back - sold the las one when I was at Grange last month - so I do know that they don't do 'fancy'.

Just hope my (well Lisa victoria's) sporty dragons go down well

I have spent all day going through my book shelves and isting books and magazines on my site (http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/shopfront/cat_286070-Books.html) Yours

I have put loads of mags on ebay and books onto Anazon too. Mostly craft - calligraphy - scrapbooking - cad making - but also some reading books.

I seriously have to de-junk the shelves and create more space - and earn a few quid!

Not sure why I think I have had an easy day, but somehow I class sitting in front of the computer all day as easy. Actually worked really hard
