so cute Posh Dog Harness

I was in my flat all weekend playing with my sewing machine.  I did used to make most of my own clothes and soft furnishings a very long time ago - but I haven't sewn seriously for a good few years, And I have been having a wonderful time getting my hand in again.

Kitten tip - read your manual again - I have found 2 new things that my machine does that are really useful and I had not known / forgotten about.  I have only had it 30 years - how scary is that!!

I spent all weekend designing and practising a soft dog harness pattern for the Posh Dog range - I have now created and streamlined the making of 2 different size harnesses.  One is for a smaller dog - Yorkie size - and the other for a Jack Russell Terrier size dog - Henry was so patient with me while I poked and prodded and measured him.  There is a couple of inches adjustable room built into the straps with the velcro fastenings

I have also had some labels printed for the range.  Bev over at Ribbon Reel Printing has done them for me - and she was just brilliant.  I sent her the logo that hubby has drawn for me and told her what I needed it to say and she came up with the design - she even suggested the colour as it would match all my brown branding.  At the moment I have 3 different one with different wording as to what they are made from - I am so thrilled with the effect

I also acquired over the weekend some amazing embroidered, satin finish, heavyweight fabrics - so I have half an idea of seriously, outrageously gorgeous  party pieces.

Cotton reel holder

since I have started sewing so much again I have been trying to find a way to store my reels and bobbins so that they stayed neat and tidy - but were easy to get at and I could see what I had.  I have tried all sorts of boxes and tubs - stacking bobbin holders - and sticks that poke in the top - and I still end up with a table of reels and bobbins everywhere.

So I made something!!!

There were a couple of scrappy bits of foam board in the shed - and an old photo frame.  So I stuck 2 bits of foam board into the frame -

Then I got some thin round dowling and cut it into 4" lengths - mapped out a grid on the foam board - poked in holes and glued the dowling in.

The chap next door was a bit bemused by it - lots of little sticks poking out of a board - looks a bit odd that!!

I bought a spray can of paint - and I chose one that had a 'lumpy' texture.  I thought it would cover a multitude of sins ;-) - and help to keep the bobbins in place better than something smooth.

So - Here it is.  I have glued it to the door that is right behind my sewing machine - I thought it would be better if I guled it flat - otherwise it woud slope and the bobbins might fall off.

It does look really smart - and I can see what colours I have - all I have to do is PUT THEM BACK WHEN I CHANGE COLOUR

I may not get around to the journal page today - or it may be tomorrow - I am having a serious clean!!!

I haven't seen my work surfaces for weeks - so this morning I have started a blitz.  I have got my office desk clear and polished

I am going to tackle the shop counter next - that should not be too hard (except for a project that I have to finish) - but - oh - my - goodness - the kitchen is just a disaster.

I may be some while

Exciting news

As loads of you know things have been stressed - frantic and manic round here for the past few months - some of you know what er have been up to - but now I can go public with some of the stuff that has been going on in the background.

THIS!!!

Don't panic - it's not me - I am not moving - nothing is changing here - it's my son.  He is moving out of the Market Hall into his own place - yes the whole building!!

It is going to be vintage computer gaming - DVDs - gaming accessories - clothing - pretty much the same as he is in the Market Hall - but now he has the space to bring all the outside events under one roof.  The evening will stt the place transform into a 'gaming hub'.  Table top games such as Magic the Gathering - Dungeons and Dragons - Pokemon - Yu-Gi-Oh - Games workshop - will have their own club nights and there will be learning / taster sessions and big event launches.

The Electrician is in at the moment re-wiring everything - and the joiner is in next week for the fittings.  It's the most stunning old building - and I have really fought to keep to tradesmen that understand that I wanted to keep it as authentic as possible.  There is a cellar and an attic - both of which will need restoring in the future to bring them into use.

It's been a long haul - but the opening should be the first week of October.

Posh Dog

I have knitted dog jumpers for the past couple of years - and for this winter I have gone totally overboard!

I have finally set up the Posh Dog as a separate business.  The lovely Sign Man from round the corner made me a new window sign from hubby's artwork and I have registered the name with the council.

I can't afford a new web site just for this - but I have set up a page on my kitten and goat site and linked to my princesskitten site with all the products listed.  Then I started off a new wordpress blog for Posh Dog - well it's my old kitten site renamed and added to - recycling is so cool.  I really struggle with Wordpress - so any advice would be welcome.  I have the idea of listing various products here and linking them to my web site and it will show up in all the searches stuff.  I have also tried to set up a Google+ page for the Posh Dog brand.  I haven't fully got to grips with google+ - but it seems to be something that is growing and it seems more open than Facebook.

I have been watching all sorts of youtube videos on how to get the best from listing and have spent a couple of hours refining all of my item descriptions and titles and adding the name to different places.

 - But I am being good - I have been stretched out on the sofa all day doing this - so it's still resting right ;-)

There is loads of stuff going on in the background here round here at the moment - and I have not had the time (or - for some of them - been allowed to) share everything with you.  I am hoping that in the next couple of weeks I will be able so get a decent schedule of postings going and keep everything up to date.

I am still collecting and designing patterns and ideas - and practising like mad.  The fleece dog coats are progressing nicely - and I am collecting data to design my own harness line and I am going to spend next weekend experimenting on those.  Keep tuned to my Princesskitten Facebook page for the new updates

Saturday Journal Page

I felt like doing a bit of cutting out today.  I was going to draw some dollies - but then these flowers took my eye.
Kitten tip - cut the shape out roughly - then stick double sided tape on the back and trim the detail closely.  That way you get sticky on all the tiny parts with no effort ;-)

Saturday Journal page

I am not much of a political animal - but I have just been listening to the Labour leadership results - and I can't help but giggle.  Everyone has been so rude to - and about this guy for the past 3 months - saying what a disaster he would be etc - etc - - and now he is the boss - I guess that's life! ;-)

Bit of a different project for you today.  When I got my new planner I made extra blank insert pages to go at the start of each month as a 'mood' board / monthly list tab page.  I got the idea from the Inkwell planners which have extra plain pages in between the months for extra notes.  Inkwell in available America - and is seriously expensive.

so - I made these new inserts - just for a bit of fun

And I have spent the morning fiddling about decorating this months 'mood' board.  I have gone greens - thinking that it was the last of the summer months before the autumn really hits home.  i have cut papers the right size as the shapes - stuck peel-offs in - coloured with Copics (note to self - colour on sticker paper with Copic and then stick on the page ;-) ) - there are loads of little doodles - and loads of sparkly gel pens.  On the other side of the insert is my monthly TO DO lists of the kits - videos - accounts and stuff that I need to remember.

'Planner' journaling is HUGE in America - it's kind of a simple way of scrapbooking - and it's fun to have pretty decorations in your diary.

New Dog Lead

What could be nice than a delivers of new fleece patterns for Posh Dog Clothing!!!!

Seriously yummy colours and patterns.  I have cut out several coats already - just got to choose which colour to trim them with.

My very favorite type of lead is the double ended - multi-function - training lead.  I have always worked my William with this type of lead - he's a difficult dog to work and I love the versatility that the lead has.  I work him with a check chain as he is such a puller and have always found it quite hard on my hands.  Now I have re-imagined the lead style in fleece for softness and comfort and an 1" ribbon/cotton webbing for strength and durability - and it's absolutely brilliant.  It has taken me a couple of trial attempts to make sure I was happy with the way the D rings are secured - they had to be neat and strong - and I wanted to make sure the idea was practical.  I have been using this lead for William for several weeks now and it's just wonderful - so light and comfortable - even though he's such a stroppy old dog!

It is nearly 2 metres in length altogether

With a lead clasp at both ends

And a total of 3 D rings to make the lead longer or shorter

You can even work 2 dogs with 1 lead.

These leads do take a while to make - and there is quite a bit of 'hardware' on them - so they will be selling for around £15.

I hope to get some out next week - I will add them to the website and shout out on Facebook as I finish them

Also coming next week - Christmas collars - so cute!

Day off

Very tardy about this weeks 'cute kitten fix'.  Went to the chiropractor this morning to get straightened out - even he said the cracks sounded spectacular ;-)

Then got settled into writing up my notes on making the new lead style - a multi-function long training lead - my very favorite and what I work William in all the time.  Show you later in the week.

Saturday Journal page

I have not got very far with this today - really have been dithering and faffing about all day.

I went a bit mad yesterday with a HUGE spurt of energy and got stuck into starting to reorganise for ((Christmas)) - and I can't get myself together at all today ;-)

Anyway - got a great background starting!
