Something new for the shop; I've always what to try these corner bookmarks as it a great way to use up bits from the scrap box, but I found it challenging to keep everything flat.

Mixed Media Collage

This is a post for Ester

We made this centre piece of Big Ben and distressed inks on Monday with Ester - everyone else made it up a card but I wanted to make a bigger piece out of it, so I used my canvas on a roll and covered a 12" square sheet of card with it. Then I created a distressed background to match, put on the centre piece and added some embellishments; I hope you like the effect.

I think ill keep this because it matches the colours iv got in there.

Do You Stack Up? Challenge # 82 - For a friend

WOW - yummie stuff going on last week!  Some great food creations - glad they were callerie free!

This weeks challenge is a little eaiser for you - still with loads of great prizes though

* Winner's Choice of 3 Digis
* $10 Gift Certificate

Floppy Latte Digital Designs -  http://www.floppylattedesigns.com/catalog/
* $10 Gift Certificate

I had a darling little girlie (Fresh picked flowers) from Little Darlings - and while I was clearing out a box I found an odd chipboard album shape - so the 2 went together (I guess you have to have my warped mind!!!!)

I made a wall hanging with loads of techniques and embellishments - I may have got a tad carried away.  There are loads of layers and textures - lots of sparkle that doesn't show up in the picture (new camera though - see the difference - much better) - I made the bouquet from some odd scraps - and I love the huge raggie ribbon bow

Inking

This is the card that we did with Ester on Monday. - this was the 'warm- up' for our big 'show-off' piece - which I have not quite finished!

This is pretty much as Ester showed it - I did it in a pale green and mustard seed from distress ink. I added a few extra gold coloured pearls but that's about all.

Big note to self ( and you all out there )  - Distress inks are WATER based - that means any glaze - or glitter - added will make the colours run

- just sayin'!!!!

Day off

Monday is kitten's day off

Actually I have been in class with the wonderful Ester Gundry all day  ((Hi Est))

I love Ester's classes - here's toys - go play - those are the basic rules.  she crates something for us to make - gives us all the bits - and we copy - do something vaguly similar - or totally wonder off on a track - she mever minds!

I have not finished my projects yet - I hope to post them on  wednesday for you.  I have a 'little' helper in the shop with me for the summer.  my son will be joining us to blast the internet side and get me up to speed - as well as do a bit of work serving customers and stock control.  Just showing him the ropes of 'grown-up' world ;-) really - so do encourage him and give him feed back.  And - yes - you can moan at him when he gets it wrong!  (He's a sweetie really)

Summer?

I have got myself a new camera.  I have been really struggling to take decent pickies with the old Kodak - and it is an oldie.  Hubby said that the best camera to take pic with was a pink one ;-) - so I now have a pink Canon - and it's got that thing that is supposed to correct the image fuzz - so you never know I might do better with it.

It's market day in the Auld Grey Town
and Grey is sure is today.  Snuggled up on the sofa with a hot bowl of soup, the dog and a blanket last night - I am sure it's March really and they are just lying about July.
On the agenda today - just walked in the door - a parcel from a new supplier that does craft kids for kiddies - just in time for the schools breaking up - boy are they going to need something to do inside in this weather!!!!!
Also - Do You Stack Up Challenges to get ahead with - and a brilliant idea for little note books is coming together

more later

Did you know that the schools kick out in a couple of weeks?

How scary is that - where has the year gone?

So I have made up some darling little 'Thank you teacher' cards.  Super cute for the kiddies to give - up-cycled from all sorts of other cards and papers.  I have about a dozen - £1 each just contact me if you would like one.  I will try to list them individually as soon as I can - but they are in the window. ;-)

New collage

I gave in and picked up the Tim Holtz Spring colours the other day when Craft Obsessions had 15% off - and - yes - they are beautiful colours.

This is made with the Shaded Lilac pad.  The 'L' shape is a section of canvas covered card - the felt flowers I made - the star charms started life as dangle earrings - loads of glitter - gems - pearls.  Love it.

I aim to list all my mixed media collages on the shop website soon - they cost £9.50 each plus postage - just shout if you want one in the meantime

Do You Stack Up Challenge #79 - Red

Loved all your 'Blue Skies' going on there - makes you so glad of the outdoors!

Heating htings up a bit this week - we want to see RED!!!!!

* £10 Gift Certificate

Paper Pretties - http://paperpretties.net/
* Winner’s Choice of 6 Images

Inspired Stamps - www.inspiredstamps.com
* $15 Store Credit

I had this super cute little wowlie - it's still wowls in this house! - from Paper Pritties.  It is a really pretty image and I did not want to loose any of the writing detail - so all I did was colour the beak - toes - hearts and leaf and then add 3D glaze to make them stand out.  The ink I used is actually the red from the Tim Holtz Christmas set - the latest colours from him are much brighter.  The heart is embossed and inked to match

I was also lucky enough to be given this wonderful bible verse stamp from Inspired Stamps - a compant that specalises in religious messages.

Please forgive the dreadful photo - I am going to have to get another camera.

The stamp is beautiful - super quality - stamped perfectly first and every time.  I am so pleased I have mastered the candle trick - I made this wonderful gift for a baptism or 1st communion.
