NEW DAY

I was really pleased that my crochet flowers were popular at the week end show - both the big 3-layers sold - and several of the smaller ones for people to sew onto collars and stuff

So - this afternoon - after all the grotty work was done - fidget and I snuggled and I made a big chunky flower

DAY OFF

Not a proper day off - loads of sorting out and catching up with the book work and stock check etc (Don't ya just L-O-V-E stocktaking (not)).  But it's all done - picked up a few mistakes to put right so it is always worth it after a big show.  I do a full proper clear through in January when it's my really quiet time and I am looking for work to do.

I can't tell you just how thrilled I was with the weekend.  It is such a relief to get out there and meet people - and chat about my stuff.  I tell you - wind me up and I chatter on for hours.  And every show is very different.  I hardly sold any of my new drawn and coloured stuff - sold loads of albums - and my dog text - and the 12 Days Of Christmas book (can't decide weather on not to remake that one).

Did not meet many crafters - strange that - a gent who did cross stitch and wanted to know how to cut apertures so he was no stuck with the bog-standard bought ones - and a lady who's mum is just getting into bookmaking.

I am still all buzzie and so thrilled with it all

Alison is in the Christmas spirit and has created a new line of Christmas block images.  Be sure to visit all the Blogs so you can see all the images.  I have used the 'Holly' image.  Available from the Stretch N Bubbles Shop

One of the best things ever about digis is that you can alter the size of them so easily - by clicking on them, and then dragging the corner to the size you want - be sure to only use the corner icon and then you will keep the image in proportion.  I make these dinky little cards by reducing the holly image to about 3cm across and copying and pasting it 8 times to get what I needed.  This makes the images so versatile when you need to create loads of cards for your Christmas list - and you always get perfect results - unlike stamping where you get sore paws!

First - cut an A4 sheet of card into A5 - the again into A6 - and fold each piece in half - that makes an A7 size card - a really cutie little size

Then shrink and copy your image as you need it

Have a great time colouring it in.

I used Copic - YG09/07/06/23 for the holly - in a very loose 'scruffy' vein-ed way like you see them growing - and there is a good old solid red on the berries

The frame outline I did in a Pental Metallic pale green (lovely and shiny)

I added 3D glaze to the big berries - and tiny spots of red liquid pearls to the spots on the frame.

I cut close round the images and matted them with red.  Then I put them on raisers and added them over red and green strips on the cards.  The tiny little detail you can see in the bottom right is a punched holly leaf that I added with a tiny speckle of red liquid pearl for the berries.  Not sure if you can see it - but the Mirror red background card is embossed with tiny holly leaves - it is so pretty
Then I made some gift tags to match - with red satin ribbons.

YOU LIKE???

To enter the hop competition - just post your comment here and a winner will be picked on Wednesday, September 1st, by Alison, the winner will receive the image I have used in my card (holly).  Leave comments on all the DT's posts along the hop and you can win each of  the images they used as well.  Once you have made your way through the hop, and left your comments you will be in the running for the overall blog hop prize - the entire set of Christmas Block images!  The draw will be done on Tuesday 1st, 9am US Central Time - and I will let you know here.

You next hop is Marcy, and we all hope you enjoy this little bit of Christmas cuteness.  Be sure to stop by the SNB Shop to see more of Alison's wonderful images.

NEW CARD

I just love this paper - It's a bo bunnie one

The image is Stretch N Bubbles, and Copic coloured
and I have added it to the http://charismacardz.blogspot.com/2010/08/challenge-34-hot-hot-hot.html

- missed these guys - not been able to make the link work for ages - and just found them again - yeah

Copic tip - Copic now do the multi-liner pens in all sorts of colours nut you can only get them in one place in the UK and only the whole set (HOW MUCH????) - so my dear friends over at Cult pens went looking for an alternative.  The Zig Millennium Drawing Pen is compatible - and under £2 each

LIFE

Salisbury's want to build one of their new 'normal' size grocery stores on the cricket ground in Kendal.  You should see the plans/impressions - really cool, very modern and slick.  And they are going to build a super cool modern sports facility - over a really top class - drop dead gorgeous - Victorian cricket ground and pavilion.

Hmmmm - Do we need it???

Kendal is tiny little town - the local population is actually quite small - more a large village with big high street shops really - and we have a big Asda store - a medium Morrison's - a small Booths - and a medium Iceland - as well as all the local small/artisan food producers shops, and a couple of really big farmers outlets (plumgarths - Low Sizergh Barn - Aireys - BeeLocal) that's with out listing the Made In Cumbria - Handmade in Cumbria - and all the small local one off shops - you should see the wet fish shop in Finkle street.  Where to start - certainly not at Salisbury's!

The new store will be on the same road as Morrison's (about 1/2 mile away) - and more expensive so I won't do my big shop there (like - who will).  And it's not got the quality or local stockist that  Booths have - so I won't switch there.  Plus, we are a pretty poor lot up here you know.  It may look drop dead pretty in the pictures (and it is) but really there are no high profile jobs (very few anyway), no big factories / industries / etc - we are all very local, small, entrepreneurs -  and the farmers up on the fells have to work really hard (above and beyond the call of duty) to earn a crust - I really can't see how a Salisbury's is going to fit in here.

Then - they are going to build over the local Kendal League cricket ground - and the cricket club are against it all.

Am I being mardy - or just missing the point of supermarkets being exciting

My first card with a Stretch N Bubbles images available here

Isn't he lovely and goo-ie

The backing paper is Daisy Bucket - My Little Monsters (double sided so the green spot is the back side)

R08/05/83, B91/93/95 and YG07

I am really pleased with the result - the images are really good strong lines, and so easy to work with.

HAND DRAWN

Jeeps - if I see another ferret - in my sights - well - look out you - that's all I can say

I 'think' I have got a handle on it

(mind you I have been here TWICE before and fluffed it)

The bottom cheeks need more fluff - but I have to hold my hands up and say I am a bit 'off' with ferrets.

I am going to work on my Stretch N Bubbles stuff tomorrow - let me back to my Copics - P-L-E-A-S-E

CALLIGRAPHY

Jeeps - what a day!  A 10 minute drop in to the local vet (fidget has a 'uckie' eye) - ended up as a 3 hour round trip to an opthalmist just to check.  Bless his socks - fidget is totally wrung out with being proded and poked and lights shone in his eyes - and an injection into his under eye lid!  - crashed out on my lap at the moment - but it's just an inflamation - not big scary serious and he is fine

I did get my dog poem finished this morning though

TIP OF THE DAY

You know how we use the thin double sides tape with glitter to make a nice straight, even line?

Did you know - - you can do the same thing with embossing powder?

oh yes - heat it - fine - no problem - just be VERY gentle and move it quickly.

Super smart, straight line, neat and even - business done

LIFE

A tale of 2 halves today -

The 'boys' have been to Blackpool for the day (all to do with the book launch that the old goat has been working on).  Princelet is not only on first name terms with a movie star- but gets hugs as well.  How many 15 year olds can claim to get a cuddle from a Bond Girl???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_Munro
Caroline is an old family friend - the old goat has been working with her for years (http://www.grenville-evans.co.uk/index.cfm)  - she is such a sweetie - blown over by how much the prince had grown (big birthday comin' up - should the -let morph into a prince???) how scarie is that!

Me? - left home alone - that's what!!

Finished my 'dog' text

- working on a 'cat'  version too.

Just got to find a nice dog to sketch at the bottom and it's done.

WELL - that's every one happy then

cuddlybuddly have got some of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders - there is going to a huge new relaese.  Provo went off the boil and went onto other ideas - then they realised every one else was copying Cuttlebug embossing folders - so they have gone into over load.  The Autumn ones are great - the Christmas ones are gorgeous

NEW IDEA

You know I have been working with dog training groups for a few years now - I have just hooked up with the local ferret rescue guys (http://www.cumbriaferretrescue.org.uk/)  with the idea to make ferret themed cards.  It is still in the early stages - but I am hoping to develop a section in the shop and donate to them for every card sold

How can you resist?

So here is my ferret sketch for the first few cards

I have got to add a bit of colour to create the fur patterns - but I am very pleased with it
