EASTER PROJECT

This is the first one:- the trial of Jesus where he is condemed to death. The background is inked with blues, and browns, with rub-on swirls.
The tags are 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" and I am going to treat them all as seperate things rather than try to co-ordinate them. I am still feeling my way about at the moment. I love the delicate mix of colours you get - tiny little flakes all twisted together. This is my 3rd attempt at this one. The 1st one all curled up - you really need quite a heavy card to start with. The 2nd one I let my pencil roll onto when it was still wet with the crackle paint and pulled off a big chunk of the surface.
you can get all Tim's tag details here http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/12-tags-of-christmas-2009/

NEW CARD

- last time we cut a chunk out of a circle to make a shape to sit in the corner
- now let's just emboss a small bit of the embossing folder!
- The owl folder is just gorgeous - I love it - several people in class had got it and not used it because they do not know what to do with it. (Do it on dark coloured, patterned paper and sand it through - yummy ) - or cut a circle (square/oval) and just emboss the owl. Ink the owl and branch with brown and green and heat emboss with clear embossing powders.
For real killing power - add goggle eyes!!!!

NEW CARD

Just wanted to colour today - so I drew a couple of my kitten images and painted them with H2Os (I was so lucky last year - when they said they were going to stop making H2Os, I got 2 big sets at 40% off - and the exchange rate was really good at the time - so now I can use 8 shades of a colour and I just LOVE it!)
OK - one in blue (that's new)
- i'n't live wonderful?

NEW CARD

Going to start a new monthly range for gemstones.
This is all hand done - the base card was sprayed with Ranger Colour wash in red and sponged with Ranger Gold paint dabber. The background paper is an Indian handmade paper with a red flock. AND the gem - - - all mine - I drew and coloured it (Copics- what else) - so chuffed with my self. Oh - the stripe bit is a scrap of ribbon.

NEW CARD
and then I thought
- it had better have a calligraphy element
- plus a drawing one
- and a bit of information that's interesting.

I thought I would do one or two a month
- then I went and spelt January's one all wrong
so I will have to do that one again

NEW IDEA
- I really need to get back to my inks - real ink - all wet and slushy - yum
- Copics - need to get further along that path - piles of ink you can blend and mix - how new is that game? - you have to remember I have had it drummed into me - mixed inks cross contaminate - result - muddy puddle
- I want to get back to drawing more - who needs to spend money on stamps? - there are loads of images I could just draw - equally as good the images on the stamps - confidence girl that's all we need
- Backgrounds - I want to use more Artist's background papers - more doodling - more experimenting, that's what's called for
- I want to get into the Tim Holtz range more - and see just what his inks can do - I am so desperate to see how the react in a pen. I really am hoping that the alcohol inks are strong enough to write with
- Patterned paper - going more towards the 12" sheets now - you can pick up much better quality - with added accents - and inked over

NEW CARD

Here's a new idea for you - add an extra dimension to your background paper
- scrunch up a piece of patterned paper - lots of lovely creases (the more the better)
- flatten out with your hand
- brush over with an ink pad to highlight the crease lines - as much as you like
- then iron flat (I use my hair straighteners - much easier!!)
- stick on your project

NEW IDEA

I have been to craft class today.
I do love going to class - it's becoming so different from the stuff I am working on at home.
The image is a stamp (Penny Black - of course - their botanicals are the bast ever) - inked, clear embossed - (I can so draw that). BUT - check out the corner detail with the text on - how cool is that. Fantastic new idea
The shaped outer is a nestibilies - center cut with a Fiskar's shape cutter (but any circle cutter will do) - then cut a chunk out to fit into the corner - So simple - so effective

NEW CARD
It's such a joy to have moved away from Christmas stuff. Thinking about Valentine's Day - spring - and probable a few get well to top up the shop stock.
This is an artist's background paper
- variation on the brayer background
http://www.princesskitten.co.uk/design_35998.html
The heart charm is hand made too - draw a heart shape - I added a sequin in the centre, a few squiggles and a few beads - then cover thickly with Anita's 3D and leave over night to dry. When the 3D is totally dry - wigggle and bend the paper to crack the glaze - then drop a bit of alcohol inks to run through the cracks a bit.
So cool
Can't want for my Distress Crackle Paints to arrive to see how they work

NEW CARD
This is my first real try at using Tim Holts's inking techniques.
The map is a huge stamp I picked up for half price. I just saw it and loved it - don't usually get that keen on a stamp. I stamped and embossed with copper, tore the edges - then inked over with a tan ink to get that parchment effect.
The background card has been inked up too
